I managed to take a photo of the underside without having to break it. With these two photos together the app suggests Trametes hirsuta with a 44% confidence, which is still quite low.
I'll keep an eye on it and see if it grows or changes.
Yes the sky is really blue today 😊

That should be easy to verify if I can get a photo of the underside

I didn't want to break it and it's too close to the ground to look, but I'll see if I can get a photo of the underside tomorrow.

Dense shelves of some light green banded fungus growing on the side of a tree stump.
Could this be turkey tail that I found two days ago? Or some other Trametes?
My trusty Norwegian app is very uncertain, all it can say with a confidence is that it's a fungus.
I like how it looks like it's pouring out of the tree stump.

A photo of a frozen lake with hazy sunlight sifting through some branches in the foreground.
This morning I went and checked on the swans I mentioned yesterday. Some skaters came too close so they lifted off and flew to another part of the lake. I assume they'll move to some bigger lake with open water if they get too hungry.
The weather was nice, with a bit of morning haze.

It would be better if they went off to find open water, but if other people are feeding them they might not, and anyway they'll need energy to move. So I figured I'd give them something too.
It's possible it's the couple that was there last summer.
I'll check on them again tomorrow.

An abandoned rowboat among high dry reeds at a frozen lake.
Two mute swans have arrived at the lake, which is still frozen. I saw someone trying to feed them, so I went back home and got some bird feed and hot water to make a hollow in the ice so they can get wet food.
I hope I did the right thing.
Photo taken before I saw the swans.

A tight cluster of fungus with a round knob shaped cap. They're pale yellow, shifting from light on the stalk to darker on the top. They're entirely covered in fuzz.
Some Armillaria. They're so cute and fuzzy up close!

A big tree stump with some shelves of a black and orange fungus
Thanks, I'll look that up! I just assumed it's a dry specimen of the same as on the other side of the stump, which I think is Auricularia mesenterica. I'm no expert so I might be wrong about that too, but I've compared it to photos online and checked that it's been reported by others at the site.

Two Gyromitra mushrooms growing on a decaying log. Their caps are like brown wrinkled puffs with an irregular shape. The stems look like a cluster of two or three stems that have fused together. One of the mushrooms has a high oval hollow near the base between two such fused stems, resembling an exaggerated "oh" expression.
The one at the back looks a bit surprised.

A detail photo of the door handle and lock on an old interior door in an old cottage (100+ years old). The door is two panel and painted white. The paint is worn and a bit discoloured from use. The handle and lock are rust coloured.
This is a very common style of door and door handle in old Swedish houses. We even have something similar on our basement doors from the 1930's, except with a large key instead of a handle.
I'm grabbing the last chance to join this week's #AlphabetChallenge #WeekHforHs
I don't know why I've taken a photo of an old door handle, but finally I found some use for it.

A photo of a snowy pine and spruce forest with a wide snowy path. There's a single track of footprints along the middle of the path.
This time of year
my boots are slow
Tight and high
to keep out the snow
Looking forward to times
when my shoes can be low
Letting me move
along with my flow

A cliff face covered in ice and icicles. There's moss and bergenia leaves behind the ice, and the icicles are slightly yellow from organic particles.
Our natural seasonal garden "waterfall" (it's just a drizzle and usually dries up in the summer) is most visible in winter when it freezes.

I walk the world at the pace my shoes set me
Watching the tides of people
rushing out
rushing in
catching the train to work
catching the train back home
leaving some lurkers in the tide pool suburbs
and some on the shore, roaming and watching the sea
like me
We don't do tides here by the Baltic Sea, so I wrote something instead.

A photo of a small mountain stream tumbling down among round moss covered rocks and boulders. The water is mostly hidden among the rocks. Low bushes and ferns surround the stream.
Photo taken in Swedish Lapland, 2021. Poem by me, 2026.
Just a little bit more
Another rock in the stream
It could take it before
So why not again?
It changes its course
Ever so slightly
Or with terrible force
And then settles down
But our rock throwing race
Won't give it a pause
To find its new place
So chaos ensues for us all

A photo of the sun on a bright blue sky over a a frozen lake covered in snow. The snow is full of footprints, and there's a ploughed skating track crossing the photo. There's forest on the other side of the lake.
Lately I've mainly reposted other people's photos for #Stunday, but we did have stunning weather today so here's one of my own too.
The ice is very thick now and the lake was full of people walking, skiing, skating or ice fishing.

Grooves carved by some beetle behind the bark of a tree, now dead. The bark has fallen off, leaving the grooves exposed. It must have been like this for a while, as there's green microbial growth on the bare wood. The grooves radiate from a wide central tunnel.
We tried baking those croissants that come in a tin. They were... not fantastic.
So now I'm considering baking croissants from scratch. Just considering, mind you. I hope I won't actually try it.
