I teach first-year university writing classes, and I have returned to in-class writing assignments. I notice real improvement over the course of the semester.
In my experience it’s just racism. I’ve been in lots of conversations where people said things I objected to about immigrants, and when I point out that I am an immigrant (brought to Canada at age 3 by my parents), they always say something like “oh, no I didn’t mean like you.”

I would still REALLY love to read the results of the public engagement sessions on the new curriculum that the UCP buried. The session I attended was scathing. There was a moderator and a scribe—I know those notes are somewhere!

A couple of weeks after being elected he approved a $140 plan that had been scrapped for a decade to raise Buffalo lake and build a recreation/ camping/provincial park there. Conveniently, he also bought a house in the lake.
Don Getty did the exact same thing in the exact same riding. Weeks after winning, he and Ralph Klein (the environment minister at the time, LOL) made it RAIN in that riding. They raised an entire lake, spent $100 million dollars.

Yup. They do not care if you are injured or in pain for years. Same with joint replacements—everyone knows they could clear up the entire list in a couple months if they felt like it.
