When a young person googles “trans woman sings taylor swift” I want to ensure that they find something that inspires hope in them rather than despair. I want to contribute my own music and to highlight the singing of other trans women, so people know that it can be done!
I have been posting a bunch of covers, but I haven't really talked about why.
When I was a kid, trans women were represented very poorly by the media. The images and ideas I experienced negatively affected me in a lot of ways. There were no positive role models visible to me - only fear and hate.
