Overlook - This map really surprised me, has a sort of arc to how the level transitions from a cave, to the open skies and forest, then to the closed off inside of the temple, and culminating in a tranquil finish.
also uses music by the blue archive composer lol.
this is overlook from the breeze contest btw
one of the nice things about celeste modding is you will play a map and just find a trans flag at the end sometimes
The City Of Goldcrest - this level kicks ass, great aesthetic, fantastic music, really good atmosphere and the gameplay and mechanics were fun too.
Sunburn Spire - This kind of kicked ass, neat new mechanic and felt challenging but fair throughout.
β¦with assist mode up to the part that broke to see if it works then. Also the mechanic on this level is kind of bugged since Madeline can dash out of the bubbles a different direction than the bubbles move.
Wonderful Outdoors - straight up got stuck and gave up, will come back to this later maybe after watching vid guides
Madeline Goes to the Well At UNC Chapel Hill - straight up had a game breaking bug that rendered the level uncompletable, will maybe reattemptβ¦
Awake - watched a playthrough of this and was worried something really hard was required for progression, Iβll beat the level normally sometime but I assume the really hard puzzle is for true end which Iβll just watch on YouTube
β¦Fantastic sound design and music too. Funny to see this labeled as the green pumpkin when the puzzles are so difficult (though I get the pumpkins correspond to technical didficulty not puzzle difficulty)
The lake society - gave up after playing 40 mins and getting completely stuck, puzzle map
Uncompleted maps below (tho I may come back to them later)
Apartment complex in time - Sick as fuck aesthetics but the puzzles are too hard for my small brain. I only beat one out of the three maps I found so far...
Deeper - Great level with chill mechanics and great visuals
..The dash sequence at the start of the final screen feels unnatural, and also the camera on the final screen doesnt move after you open the door, so youβre jumping blindly onto the dream block, and you land lower on the block than feels satisfying.
Wanderer of a Forgotten World - uninteresting and frustrating. The final screen feels mean and hostile to the player on purpose, with an unnecessary spike wall at the start so if you miss the dream gem you have to die because of itβ¦
Roundabout Square - swanky and short, it was okay
The Karman Line - Oh Iβve heard this song in youtube videos before. Neat level, honestly was easier than club pinwheel lol.
BClub Pinwheel - Iβm pretty sure this is legally classed as torture. The whole time you canβt see half the screen AND all your dashes go in the opposite direction as you press. One of these gimmicks on their own would be bearable but combined it makes for a hellish experience.
β¦Also this level was way harder than the other few red maps ive played, but that may just be because I hated its mechanic, cassette blocks simply overstayed itβs welcome and the fact the story demanded the song was bad made the soundtrack simply unpleasant.
Revibe - it was neat for a bit then it kept going.. and goingβ¦ and goingβ¦ I found a screen near the end so annoying an hour into the level I just gave up and assist modes through the rest. Really itβs all fine until you get 2 dashesβ¦
Runaway - Coffee! Was decent.
Inconsequential - fun stamina management level, I appreciated how being mostly unable to die added to the vibes, I think some tiny bits of story may have added to the experience, but the map itself tells a story all on its own tbh. Play this one, itβs a vibe.
Oblivion City - neat melancholy vibes
Otherworld city - clean level with good music and fun mechanics
Mercuryβs Shade - I see why it got so high marks for gameplay, this level is smooth. No binoculars either which I think just shows how you donβt need it bc itβs a readable level
Multi-instancing - great aesthetic and interesting bits of plot.
Press forward - Mario maker style auto level, not much to say about it.
Fluorescent Lake - Pretty colors, thatβs about it
Asmodeus Eternal - awesome void stranger inspired level, a couple moments had me yelling at getting it right
Completed maps listed below
Detour - interesting mechanic, got confused a few times but itβs alright, was fun and had some challenge
Lost Memories - awesome aesthetic, short and sweet
Mirage - Cool custom music, and creative concept.
Thread about the Breeze Contest, a collection of 75 beginner maps. Iβve been playing it a ton recently after 100%ing the base game and playing a lot of strawberry jam maps too. Here Iβll give my thoughts on all the maps I played so far.
gamebanana.com/mods/554453
developed a strategy of moving my eyes across the screen and sensing a vertical line that's the line between the colors
pretty fun lol, I am using a mac m1 which im pretty sure has a pretty quality display tbh
What's My JND? 0.0026
Can you beat it? www.keithcirkel.co.uk/whats-my-jnd...
Breeze contest is interesting because you will get some banger levels and also a select few that are legally classed as torture
