Bittersweet, to say the least.

I wear a necklace everyday since right after my wife passed four years ago, her fingerprint permanently engraved on this pendant. It symbolizes the forever imprint her life left on my heart. #author #Memories #heartbroken

But it also felt like something quieter: making space for new life without letting go of what’s already precious. Accepting that closeness can carry a little scratch — and deciding it’s worth it anyway. Maybe I'm ready to feel alive by chasing something wild.

I also remember feeling protective of my current aging cat and hoping all the cats would get along. That felt important. Not replacing what’s already loved, just expanding the circle.
Maybe it was just a dream about cats. I do love them, and I wouldn’t mind one or two more in the house.

The dream left me thinking about how we make room in our lives for things that were once wild — old emotions, new beginnings, fresh creative energy, even companionship. Sometimes they come with a small sting. Not because they mean harm, but because anything alive still has claws.

The kitties were timid but seemed to want to be near me. One young gray tabby kitten let me hold it, though it accidentally scratched me — not out of aggression, just instinct. It hurt a little, but I understood. I kept holding it.
I woke up calm.

Last night I dreamed about bringing several formerly feral cats and kittens into my house. Dreams sometimes affect my writing. I published a novella based on my very vivid dream of living in a domed city on the Moon. This time, the cats had deeper meaning
