I also don't think you should be buying gear to solve problems, but I also think it can be less limiting for peoples process to have some stuff to play around with to come up with an idea or whatever
If you're only buying what you need to accomplish making your album or whatever, I think that can be very limiting for people like myself that just want to mess around sometimes
I think what hardware (eurorack enthusiast here) allows you to do is create a sense of play with your music that gets lost with a minimal/utilitarian setup. .
