Well-monied interests--from both US-based and foreign sources--are crowding out the voices of most Americans without limits. This is the direct result of a Supreme Court decision passed in 2010: Citizens United v FEC. Overturning this decision is necessary to restoring democracy.

I love that about trains. They are often really smooth riding, too, but can sometimes get pretty crowded.

Trump megadonor Steve Wynn has filed a petition asking the Supreme Court to overturn the landmark 1964 decision in New York Times v. Sullivan, which protects the media's ability to aggressively cover public officials. www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/24...

Berlin, Belgrad, Bratislava - ΓΌberall gehen die Menschen zu Tausenden gegen rechte Politik auf die Strasse. In den Medien heute wieder nur Trump und Musk. Das ist Teil des Problems.

Denmark is our NATO ally. They're also an incredibly tiny country β 7 million citizens. So this is classic bullying behavior, singling out the smallest in the yard for attack.
It's also a signal to Putin that NATO is dead.

As expected, the Trump team is already deleting climate info from government websites. In anticipation, our team at Urban Ocean Lab created a permanent archive of 100+ key resources and published a permanent archive: www.urbanoceanlab.org/resource-hub π©π½βπ»

I'll keep using both LinkedIn (professionally) and Bsky more for personal interest, though there's a little bit of overlap btwn the two. I'm likely to continue using FB and IG purely for personal reasons, bc my family and friends use those apps. That's as much social media as I can handle!

I'm a fan (joined yesterday). If you like X or liked Twitter, this is pretty similar, but with no ads! I used the sky bridge browser extension to import my following list from X. Bsky lets you choose your own algorithm/curation approach for what you see in your feed, which is great.

Global economy could face 50% loss in GDP between 2070 and 2090 from climate shocks, say actuaries
Exclusive: Report by risk experts says previous assessments ignored severe effects of climate crisis
You know who understands risk? Actuaries. And guess what they're saying: "... the plausible worst-case hit to global economies would be 50% in the two decades before 2090."
I'm bad at budgeting, can someone tell me whether 50% is a lot?

I'll never forget meeting David Lynch at a conference on transcendental meditation at University of Washington, which I snuck into with friends (2005 or so). He described how to overcome the "suffocating rubber clown suit of negativity."
RIP. I'll miss his brand of surreal brand of quirky.
