Literacy levels low across the board. Loneliness epidemic. Public education crisis. War. Propaganda. People making companions of machines. Sigh.

Just to be clear, I’m not talking about using AI for work or computing tasks, even though there are criticisms for that, too. I’m talking about people asking questions and for guidance that suggests that they think the machine is capable of understanding, processing, & relating to human emotion.

And this is why we’ve been seeing more cases of perfectly “normal” and “intelligent” people becoming infatuated with AI in deadly ways. No one who tries to use these machine as a surrogate for human interaction is exempt from the risk of psychosis. Doesn’t matter how “smart” they are.

Like, if you’re asking an AI bot what it thinks about your relationship or spiritual dilemma it’s clear that you’re not relating to this thing as a machine that synthesizes data & feeds ppl back what it think they most likely want to hear.

Not only have we been made aware that it’s terrible for the environment, but the kinds of questions some people ask AI bots in & of itself makes it clear to me that they think AI bots are some kind of oracle with original thought as opposed to
machines that synthesize data.

I really hate how much more normalized it’s become to outsource everyday thinking to ChatGPT/AI. At least once a week someone tells me they asked ChatGPT for its opinion on their personal matters, spiritual stuff, etc. It’s disturbing
