Iirc one big issue with space elevators and tethered stations is that we lack a material that's able to be mass produced on that scale that can withstand the insane amounts of tensile forces.

Actually, longer. Much, much longer. We currently lack the technology required to terraform on such a scale, nor the time required to do so. Planets are BIG, way bigger than most people actually can comprehend. The time scale for such a project is thousands of years with sufficient technology btw.

I hate hate hate hate these chodes who think we need to get to Mars to save humanity. There are zero scenarios that could ever make Earth as deadly as Mars. Zero.

I’d love if we went to Mars. Of course! But for science!! Not as a “backup planet.”
