We adopted them as kittens and they're now twelve years old. They never fight or are aggressive toward one another, but it's been hell since last night. They're both clearly traumatized from their fight and apart from continuing to keep them separated, I don't know what else to do.

Exhausted after a sleepless night. Our rescue cats, Pepper and Pancakes, saw a racoon outside last night and attacked each other out of redirected aggression. We kept them separated overnight and when we tried reintroducing them to each other this morning, there was more screaming and fighting.
