My Strava trace of where I ran at the orienteering events. It is very very wiggly, particularly on the bottom half.

Back out orienteering for the final GLOSS of the season at Harmondsworth Moor. Lots of interesting route choice and slightly bizarre to be running with the planes landing at Heathrow next door. #orienteering

A hot and sweaty me, with a lovely pink face, after my run. You can see my head and the top half of my torso. I’m wearing my DFOK o-top and a DFOK buff to keep my hair back (got to stay on brand) and have my running reading glasses (yes, they’re a thing) around my neck.

The first part of my orienteering map, showing the start to control 4. It’s an urban orienteering map of eastern Guildford, I think this is mostly Merrow.

The second part of my orienteering map, of Guildford - parts of Merrow and Burpham. This has control 4 through to control 14 and the finish.

A hot morning’s orienteering around Guildford. Enjoyed it though! #orienteering

Skiing twice this winter for me: once in Austria (London>WΓΆrgl via Paris and ZΓΌrich) and once in France (London>Bourg St Maurice via Paris and Lyon). Sadly you’ve not been working one of my Eurostars yet!

A slightly crumpled piece of embroidery (sorry I haven’t ironed it yet!). Bands of embroidery with white perle thread and variegated coloured cotton (in blues and purples) with some hardanger on embroidery. In white linen fabric.

Another project completed from my stash, a needlework sampler involving hardanger embroidery. Picked up years ago in a sale, made by a firm called Classic Embroidery.

First time out orienteering in 2 and a half months due to injuries, and it was nice. Thank you South London Orienteers for a fab event.

Me (Naomi) running to the finish control at today’s orienteering event. Well staggered is a better description, as I was knackered by this point.

Me (Naomi) and two other Dartford Orienteering Klubb members discussing our courses at the finish. Because it’s not an orienteering event unless you’ve talked about your course, complained about the map and/or terrain and competed over who made the most mistakes.

Another Sunday orienteering, a tough event at Balcombe. #orienteering

Focusing on the small things right now and it was lovely to be out orienteering this morning at Blackheath and Farley Heath in Surrey. In the sunshine too! #orienteering

I have a pair of occupational varifocals (with the distance element set for my computer monitor) and they are amazing!

I think I had some very keen teachers who felt like they had a duty in educating us. Also my recollection of the 92 election was it was so close, and I wonder if it being the first post Thatcher one drove interest too.

For me year 12 (lower sixth form) PHSE, which conveniently coincided with the 1992 general election. We also got taught about local (county and district council) elections.

Doing my bit to up the amount of orienteering on here: last event of 2024 was at Wellington College on Monday. Forest and urban: nearly two events in one! Good turn out from Dartford Orienteers and thank you Southern Navigators for a fab event.

I hear you. I snort with laughter when anyone tells me that Germany has a good rail system.

Does that mean Dutch high school admissions are as bonkers as English ones?
