I've had a look at the CQC reports and maternity services were rated as 'Good' back in 2018 (when you mention the maternity unit was approved) whereas the Urgent Care, Medical Care, Surgery and End of Life Care were all classified as 'Requires Improvement', so not sure on this. Odd decision for me.

I stand corrected. Hopefully there is some money left over for the rest of the hospital 👍

This is great, obviously, but the cynic in me has to wonder if they spent all that money on a new maternity wing just to distract from the whole Lucy Letby thing. I would question the wisdom of this given that the A&E was recently ranked amongst the worst.
