Today I downloaded all my #kindle books to my computer before we lose the ability to do so. I also canceled my #audible subscription. I let them know I don’t want to support a company that encourages me to ‘buy’ books, but not own them. Just one small step in my overall divestment of #amazon.

How do you keep the scope of your #dnd campaign simple? Asking for a #DM who’d like to run a game that doesn’t turns into a final fantasy style epic where we fight god. Nothing wrong with that, just hard to schedule consistently on a weeknight. #ttrpg

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

That makes so much sense! I think I saw some similar advice in the book ‘2k to 10k’ by Rachel Aaron. I read it a while back, but I’ve been going over it again as I prep.

If you're in Illinois, you're on Section 8, and your landlord tries to evict you because of the government funding freeze, email me at sheryl@weikallaw.com. My cases are pay-whatever-you-can.

just stumbled on a real jaw-dropper of a line in an essay -- “The corollary of being interested in a great range of things is to have sympathy with a great range of outlooks” -- and that, my friends, is why reading is so important.

I asked my husband to start wearing a mask at work again. Last year was the first year I haven’t caught something from his coworkers. This year we’ll have less accurate information & less accurate vaccines. The government is leaving us behind so do your part for your chronically ill friends. 😷

This is a continuation of the saga from last year, when we were saved at the last second by the then-mayor. (1/2)

You won't believe this. My team and I make this show called SciShow that works hard to be rigorous and accurate while also being appealing and entertaining.

We reach a LOT of people every year with episodes about crabs and neutrinos and gender and cancer and vaccines.

It's great, I love it.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

Please support your local public libraries. Many libraries offer reciprocal cards to other nearby library systems (great for borrowing e-books and audiobooks through Libby).

Please read banned books.

Please read books by BIPOC authors.

Please use StoryGraph.

Please purchase locally.
