Did you know there's a resolution proposed in the US House that states that "...health care for women should also address the needs of men, families and communities as they relate to women's health care." Men's needs considered in my health health care? Community needs?

That looks like such an interesting session! Unfortunately I'm only here today. But it's nice to see a session on using AI with students.

Or they want them to enjoy it...but on their own time and only with approved books and without talking to anyone about it. Just be a reader instinctively.

New on the list of things that annoy me even though they shouldn't: Yearly wrap-ups before the year is over. I still have books to read, Goodreads!

Humor and horror are big. Graphic novels, of course. Romance is popular...but there's not many titles.

That's right!!! I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder; that stuff would be perfect.

We lost the art class at our school due to declining enrollment. Writing a grant over break to add in some passive programming in the media center that may make up for that a little. Anyone have any good ideas?

The Snowy Day is the book I remember most from childhood. I think as a Floridian the images held such a sense of magic for me.

Yes! Books are either elementary and too young for my kids or YA and too mature. Struggling readers don't want baby books but advanced readers aren't always ready for YA topics. Middle school is usually looked at that way in general though.

Does it count off they are spread around the house instead of a pile?

Same. Challenging yourself on heavy topics when you are being challenged elsewhere doesn't always broaden your mind. For me it can broaden my anxiety instead. A good romance allows me space to explore those issues elsewhere.

America’s literacy crisis isn’t what you think This is what happens when kids don’t read for pleasure anymore.

Bar stools are the enemy. My work chair is that height; my students live watching me hop up on it to do checkouts.

Stopped doing the socials for a bit. Was getting to be a little too much. However, I just left the #FAME24 conference feeling reinvigerated. Starting fresh on Bluesky. How's everyone been?
