Trans+ Solidarity Alliance were in Parliament again today! Answering MPs questions on the draft EHRC guidance and the impending trans bathroom ban.
I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.
I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. Iโm sorry we have to live through this.
The Supreme Court is kicking trans kids when theyโre down, itching to set national policy on their right to exist just as the federal government is telling them they have none.
More to the point: These are as-applied challenges only covering two school sports players, not statewide injunctions.
Pretty clear that this will be the vehicle SCOTUS will use to deny equal protection to transgender people. While the case will be about sports, that decision would essentially strip all rights on transgender status or sex for trans people.
It would make virtually any law permissible.
Ohio just passed it's budget that bans funding for MENTAL HEALTH therapy for all trans people in medicaid.
This is what eradication policies look like.
SCOTUS vacated 3 trans related cases this morning in light of Skrmetti. Two dealing with state coverage of gender affirming care for adults in North Carolina, W. Virginia, and Idaho, and another dealing with a ban on gender marker changes on birth certificates in Oklahoma. It's open season on us.
No amount of skipped lessons will make it possible for people to "opt out" of the reality that LGBTQI+ people exist.
We are here. We have always existed and always will.

This is BS.
I ran for office in a red state and won with 80% of the vote. I regularly talk about my identity when I knock doors. The key is to do so a way that connects to other issues (e.g. being trans shapes how I think about ALL healthcare access, threats to education, etc.).
It's that simple.
So are trans people who continue to use the correct toilet going to be banned from parliament? Banned from participating in democracy?
Most anti LGBT government of our lifetimes
Republican women would rather die than admit they were wrong on abortion bans. It's mind boggling.

Your reminder to call your Senator now and demand that they invoke the Byrd Rule and strip the transgender medicaid ban from Trump's spending and tax bill.
Call them here.

OK iโve seen almost no media outlet pick up on the fact the Supreme Court ruling endorsed conversion therapy
and opens a portal to the normalization of conversion therapy nationally
so hereโs a thread explaining how they did so, and why you should care

I doubt there's any actual policy goal difference between Trump and Helen Lewis. She just wants it to be quicker, quieter and "more polite"
For my @msnbc.com column this week, I wrote about exactly what the Republican anti-trans budget bill would do to trans people on Medicaid.

J.K. Rowling uses 'Harry Potter' wealth to fund anti-transgender organization
J.K. Rowling is using her wealth attained from the "Harry Potter" series to create an organization dedicated to removing transgender people's rights "in the workplace, in public life, and in protected female spaces.โ

Republicans in Utah commissioned an investigation into gender-affirming care for trans youth after banning it in 2023.
They're now rejecting the findings of that investigation which showed access to care reduced suicides and improved "positive mental health and psychosocial functioning outcomes."
Every time you buy a Harry Potter product, you are financing the dismantling of trans rights
Every Harry Potter book or shirt you buy directly funds the persecution of trans people.
There's absolutely no excuse to support anything Harry Potter anymore unless you hate trans people.
Wrote an essay about things I've been feeling as a trans person at Harvard, especially this week.
I launched my publication last week, please subscribe and support.

hi, cis folks!
please read this incredibly informed thread from jael who is a) a former congressional reporter & b) the woman who wrote the most prescient postmortem of the 2024 election for trans peopleโwhich, so far, has been going more or less as she laid it out in december.

There is genuinely a new one of these stories every few hours. Think how many women are being abused by transphobes who don't feel safe to speak out, or who just silently change their appearance to be more stereotypical in the hope that it won't happen again?
RAINN, the largest organization devoted to survivors of sexual abuse, has eliminated all resources for LGBTQ, immigrants, and other marginalized groups.
They're failing their core purpose.

The Trump HHS approach to transgender youth is not "greater emphasis on psychtherapy." It is "ONLY psychotherapy," with the explicit goal of making trans youth no longer transgender.
It IS conversion therapy.
Washington post is an absolute right wing rag at this point.
99% of the time, the people who end up getting barged in on by police and security guards with transgender bathroom bans are cisgender lesbian women.
Bathroom bans don't work because you can't tell whose trans by looks alone.
Anyway. Many such cases.
In an absolutely devastating ruling, the Supreme Court has allowed the transgender military ban to go into effect.
This is shocking - the ban explicitly called transgender people dishonorable for being transgender. It is as clear as day soaked in animus.

92 years ago today, the Nazis raided the Magnus Hirschfeld Institute for Sexuality, where the first study of trans people was conducted, and burned all of its contents.
Fitting that today is also the day SCOTUS greenlights the project of the eradication of trans people from society in the US.
