Hi Debbie! I love doing school and library visits and would love to be added to your list!

Before the seed library, it was a spice library! Puzzle exchange is such a great idea too.

In case you want some sweet news today.
Iโm volunteering at the book fair at my kidโs school, and discovered Dav Pilkey paid for the whole thing.
For the entire school.
Every kid pre-k through fifth grade (the whole school) goes home with two free books.
If you missed it live, hereโs a link to the interview!
Bringing this back because honestly I don't know how to help the world right now, but I do know that this helped many individual kids last fall. โค๏ธ
I bought more books so I can give them away again. Please let me know if you know a kid or class who needs a #kidlit book with this message right now. โฌ๏ธ
The thing about so-called generative artificial intelligence is, the intelligence isn't artificial. It's real. It's OURS. The techbros stole our intelligence (our data, our thoughts, our stories, our art) and used the software to regurgitate it and spackle it together into digital particleboard.
Folks, I need helpโmaybe one of you knows the right person to talk to.
SodaStream ought to have commercials where Patrick Stewart points and says, โMake it soda.โ Does anyone know somebody on their marketing team, or

SPRINGFIELD, MA - Wednesday, March 5, 2025 - On Friday, February 28, 2025, Link to Libraries brought two children's book authors, Kari Allen and Carrie Kruck, to share their work and passion for books and reading with students at Sumner Avenue Elementary in Springfield and Lambert-Lavoie Elementary in Chicopee. In addition to sharing stories about their journey to becoming authors, Allen read a book from her Maddie and Mabel early chapter book series and Carrie Kruck shared her debut picture book Iggy Who Breathes Fire.
Link to Libraries is doing amazing work in Western MA, building home libraries book by book in underserved areas, and I was so thrilled to work with them and meet these bright young sparks ๐ฅ

Think of the short and catchy hook on a movie poster :)
A notification from my clearly drunk phone claiming that last week I averaged only 16 minutes of screen time per day on this device.

One of the really special things about Sesame Street was always these little art films that were less about teaching a specific thing than they were about instilling a sort of meditative sense of wonder at how the world works.

Maybe instead of ๐celebration๐you could think of it as a type of accounting, a balance sheet of writing progress ;)
Yes! Iโll record revisions or drafts completed, but also emails sent, critiques provided, reviews written, time spent studying a good mentor text, a good conversation with a librarianโฆWriting is about so much more than just a word count! Baby steps!
It definitely takes practice!
Baby steps add up! A writing friend and I started notebooks last year where we write down EVERY baby step, and report back to each other every Monday. Itโs made a big difference - Iโm more motivated when I can celebrate those baby steps and see how they add up over the course of a year. #kidlitchat
