I went a bit overboard taking #PHOTOS of the last night's #Sahara sunset! So, here's another ... It was lovely of the egret to come out for a little night fishing, exactly as I started taking snaps. I did have a heck of a time keeping all those horizontals straight tho! #NatureIsMagic #photographs

This is a sketch of the garden at the front of the studio. Includes twisted hazel which I really like to draw.

A couple of garden sketches from last summer, ink and watercolour. Already planting seeds for this year including some sunflowers which look great in a busy mixed flowerbed.

Collage of photographs taken at the splendid Arts & Crafts gem, Blackwell House in Cumbria. The sizeable grand house was designed by architect Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott in 1900. See post I of II for a bit more info. Couldn't resist posting this collage as a follow-up, to showcase some of the variety of Arts & Crafts fashions on display. Image shows a collage of four pictures, a long horizontal image along the bottom, a larger portrait image on the left and two smaller square images on the right. Top left: a stained glass window with a symmetrical vine design in red, lilac, green and turquoise colours. Right top: the 'White Drawing Room' (see previous post). Right bottom: a glazed tile by William De Morgan in blues and greens of the 'Bedford Park Daisy' pattern. Bottom: a section of wood-carved frieze featuring a repeating vine and grapes design (similar to the stained glass window). This design is seen in white above the fireplace in the previous post. Oregon, Cannon Beach

A sketchpad watercolour done from Bosham as the sun went down one evening in 1970. Not sure exactly where I sat but I think the church across the water is St Nicholas at Itchenor (the spire is a little more squat than depicted here). I think G and I were with an old friend and we went for beers in a nearby pub (the Berkeley Arms? Probably a bit too posh for scruffy arty types now). I didn't have a car then so it was bus or train plus a walk.

One of my favourite old watercolours, bringing back memories of exploring the Hampshire coast by bus or train with sketch pad. This was done at beautiful Bosham in 1970 on cheap paper, catching the sun going down over Chichester harbour - see alt text
