Miscarriage Is Increasingly Dangerous for Women in Texas, Our Analysis Shows. Here’s How We Did It. Using seven years of hospital discharge data, we found that the number of blood transfusions during emergency room visits for first-trimester miscarriage shot up by 54% since Texas banned abortion.

Our analysis, which shows that more women nearly bled to death during miscarriage after Texas banned abortion, adds to a growing body of reporting revealing that maternal outcomes have gotten worse under bans.

Well it makes sense now that we know both Brian Owendoff and Laurie Wimmer were brain washing my colleagues into thinking β€œthe race card” move was a tactic.

We’re all the same style of progressive though, no real difference among people politically lol

Today I learned here in Portland teachers are being asked to either take 3 furlough days or cut 170 full time teaching positions. My son is in a blended class of 4/5th graders because they didn’t have enough money for another teacher. Fuck off

Republicans are using kids as a smokescreen for what Big Tech lobbyists want: a national surveillance program to harvest our data with zero protections for people and their privacy.

We must fight this dangerous expansion of surveillance technology.

ICE detains reporter Estefany RodrΓguez in Nashville - Nashville Banner Reporter Estefany RodrΓguez, detained by ICE with no arrest warrant, may face deportation. Her attorneys seek immediate review of the legality of her case.

ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. She’s married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.

They’ve already sent her to Louisiana.

ICE Ruses - Immigrant Defense Project Learn more about ICE's use of ruses in investigating and arresting non-citizens.

If you're curious to learn more, check out the incredible @immdefenseproject.bsky.social resource on ICE ruses, which they've been updating for more than a decade. I remember being so grateful it existed when the situation above happened to my client, because it validated my "WTF" to the situation.

Please read this article to the end. Even before ICE got involved, this started because this *blind man who speaks no English and uses a curtain rod as a walking stick* got lost on a walk and some Karen called the police on him and they tasered and beat him bc he didn’t drop the rod. WTF

The Johnny MAGA account was created in September 2021, according to its X profile. (It originally used a different handle, which referenced Wade’s birth year, according to records reviewed by WIRED.) While the account’s earliest available posts focused on NFTs, it has been a consistent pro-Trump presence since at least 2022.
The operator of the Johnny MAGA account has not disclosed an official relationship with the White House while operating the Johnny MAGA X account. Multiple media outlets, including Mother Jones, TownHall, and the New York Post, have all linked out to posts on the Johnny MAGA account seemingly as organic reflections of public sentiment on political issues.

This is very good reporting that sheds light on just how small the extremely pro-Trump online right really is. The online right is totally astroturfed. The White House's own staffers are running meme accounts to make them look more popular than they are. www.wired.com/story/a-whit...

In the concentration camp universe, this is what's known as a filtration camp. A government preemptively takes a whole class of people to interrogate and detain extrajudicially in order to inflict duress on them while arbitrarily assessing their (supposed) culpability.

It's particularly bad at finding research papers. It often makes up papers with links that go nowhere, or returns papers that aren't actually relevant to your search topic but maybe contains a term you were searching for.

When Border Patrol shot two immigrants in Portland, they claimed they had ties to gangs. The Guardian later wrote a story exposing those claims as a smear campaign, but the narrative was regurgitated by city leadership that took DHS at their word.

Now we see the true agitators in Eugene were DHS.

Just a quick update from the Twin Cities. (Please forgive the unsolicited message). THINGS ARE NOT BETTER IN MINNEAPOLIS. The media is mostly moving on, Trump is focused on other stuff, BUT NOTHING HAS CHANGED ON THE GROUND. More than 2,000 DHS thugs continue to roam the streets, abducting people 24/7, assaulting legal observers with impunity, and routinely denying 1st, 4th, and 5th amendment rights. Drones and helicopters are overhead every day. Hundreds and hundreds of terrified families have not left their homes since mid-December ... relying on the community to bring them food and help with rent and other necessities. (Those people are NOT violent drug cartel sex offending murderers, as DHS would tell you. Most are legal residents or citizens.) If anything, things have just become more stressful and intractable (think trench warfare as a suitable metaphor): The resistance is better organized and numerous, but DHS has become more clever and better at disguise... and the county sheriff's office is increasingly supporting them . Do not let anyone tell you that Homans (the new person in charge of the occupation) is making anything better. Do not let anyone tell you that 700 ICE agents leaving the city has made much of a difference; the remaining force (again, ~2,000) is still larger than the entire city's police force (which is legally unable to do anything). Please call your congressional reps ... especially if there is any chance the administration might listen to them.

As federal agents escalate force in Portland, residents are demanding more accountability.

Now advocates are turning to Multnomah County DA Nathan Vasquez, the elected official tasked with prosecuting those who break local laws.

Federal judge rules DOJ can β€˜no longer’ be trusted in voter roll crusade The judge pointed to a letter from Bondi to Minnesota that tied federal immigration enforcement to demands for voter data as the smoking gun.

NEW: A federal judge in Oregon issued a sweeping rebuke of the Justice Department’s nationwide push to seize state voter rolls, ruling that the department can no longer be presumed to be acting in good faith and warning that its conduct threatens voters and states’ rights.
