Oh god, me too. The book is so lovely. It lives up to the hype, I couldn't recommend it more
Everyone stop what you are doing and order this book now. Heard and interview with the author on @folklorepod.bsky.social and had to get it.
It's amazing. Just so ridiculously charming and I needed it. I really did. It's a much needed tonic to all the negative news and crap that is flying around.
This was a really great help! Let me know if you want to read the short play about the 23 cats of York. (mentioning or featuring a Hobgoblin as per the play writing challenge)
Really love that it's varied like @folklorepod.bsky.social. I really love your interviews as well as the regular episodes. Any personal favourites you have from the last 6 years?
Yes!! Thank you! I am somewhat late to your podcast party so very much appreciate this ๐
If you happen to find anything from York, I'd be really interested to hear (or if you want to know anything interesting that comes up in my research I'll be happy to pass it on). Trying to find interesting landmarks for a short play challenge.
I bloody love your podcast. Virtual coffee incoming
I am โค๏ธ this theme. I once worked as a professional inmate of Newgate prison (Madam Tussauds chamber of horrors - it was not even slightly based on fact, was more like a misrepresentation of Bedlam) One of the original knockers (heh) was there. It was huge.
Loving the current theme on Fabulous Folklore. #Newgate was a big part of my life for a while*, so this was a joy.
I was technically an inmate there for a year. I got paid for it though.
What a weird way to tell the world you just don't "get" what art is.
It's a trap!
And rightly so. This is the way of the meme.
This sums up my morning. Thank you, but I am pillaging this meme.
Loved this episode. I read ages ago about the Ottoman empire making it illegal to accuse Jewish people of blood libel because there was literally no evidence it happened and it was clearly hate speech (in a nutshell). Sadly seeing the same propaganda from both sides in Gaza posts today ๐
I am in this cartoon and I feel personally attacked.
BNP are too open in their hatred.
The Tories are now 8 rich 40-something men and their mums practicing how to tut loudly enough to make their opinion known without having to actually say what they think, because they secretly know it's not very nice they just haven't got the guts to admit it.

Can anyone sling me some good #folkore particular to #York?
I need to write a #shortplay
You can write one too, if you're a #playwrite. Or if you're not a playwright and fancy being one.
Here are the details:

Armpit snails FTW
Well that was an experience.
Thank you @dannyrobins.bsky.social er al
A good night, but the best takeaway was that we can all have a different opinion and have fun together.
You can be a believer and like a skeptic, a skeptic and like a believer. Or just not know.
Good times
It's time for some @dannyrobins.bsky.social action!

Also, I got a chicken shaped disco ball in my FB marketplace. I have never even considered a normal disco ball, but now I think about it...
Shut up and take my money
This episode particularly reminded me of a lot of things that I need to remain critical about, especially where there's some hype about things that are wholesome on the face of it.
I honestly think I've learnt more about critical thinking since I embraced my love of monsters. I love that Monster Talk isn't snobby about what people believe. I've learned it's possible to live the myth/legend/monster and love the explanation or theory behind it.
Critical thinking doesn't come easy to me. Like many women my age, I was undiagnosed autistic, always a bit lost in the world, I used to think everything I was told was true. This could be hilarious or traumatic looking back. Probably both. I still fall for fake science. It's why I love the show
Apparently, Facebook thinks my new theatre project is breaking community rules.
It's not. But I'll try and start a revolution of sorts if you promise to take a look:

I think even the most skeptical amongst us can agree that this is definitely haunted.
