Only one week to go until the next People Planet Pint in Weston-super-Mare! Come along and find out what's going on locally with sustainability and how you can get involved.
Tue 10 March from 7pm at Duke of Oxford (BS23 1TF)
Thanks to all who came along, co-hosts Haycraft Creative and the hive, the Duke of Oxford pub for hosting us, and of course sponsors Krystal and Small99. It's always a friendly get together to sharing what you’re up to, and your thoughts around sustainability. Our next is planned for March.
Secondly, thanks to new attendee Vaughan for introducing us to Earth Rising, a beautifully crafted "anti-Monopoly" board game that encourages players to restore balance and work (play) to secure the future of our shared planet, Earth. Check it out here:

We've been reflecting on our last People Planet Pint of 2025 that we hosted in Weston-super-Mare a couple of weeks ago. Conversations meandered naturally around various topics both local and afar. In particular, we discussed two interesting topics…
#PeoplePlanetPint #NorthSomerset #WestonSuperMare
While we've not been able to donate as much support as in previous years, we're still committed to helping preserve and protect our shared planet.
Find out more about 1% for the Planet at:
onepercentfortheplanet.org
Text reads "1% for the Planet: We can't afford business as usual." against a background of steam coming from the cooling towers of a coal-fired power station
The economy is tough on many right now, including our small business. But we believe that we can't afford business as usual.
We recently recertified with 1% for the Planet for another year, committing to donate the equivalent of 1% of gross sales in monetary and in-kind donations.
A player with brown skin wears Newark & Sherwood United FC's away kit, which is bright orange with purple trim and the name of many UK B Corp companies printed in lines all over it; As It Should Be Ltd is highlighted
Isn't every day you get to see your company printed on football club kit!
65% of Premier League clubs' main sponsors are gambling or airline companies. So, instead of sponsor logos, the Newark & Sherwood shirt reads "Supported by B Corps" along with the names of over 2,000 UK B Corps, including us!
Certified B Corporation logo over an illustrated Autumnal scene, with "Recertified" stamped underneath
We re-certified as a B Corp! 🎉
The value of B Corp for us is having a robust framework that helps us learn and grow in a positive way. Re-certification is a chance to review practices and inform where to focus efforts in the coming years.

Looking forward to Green IO London next week, and meeting some people formerly only known as pixels! Come and say hi 👋
Oh, and I’ll have copies of Tom Greenwood’s book, Sustainable Web Design, to give away!

Scatman John used his music to spread a message of resilience, acceptance and inclusion. His second hit "Scatman’s World" imagined a world where compassion is the norm. ❤️
We’d love to live in that world.

30 years ago today, this interview with John Larkin was recorded along with a prog-jazz take on his biggest hit. You may know him as Scatman John. 🎶
Beyond the music, he raised awareness about stuttering, helping kids build confidence.

‘Sustainability is no longer enough.’
“Aiming for 🌱 #Sustainability, however, is no longer enough. We need to seek a solution that heals as well as maintains … #RegenerativeDesign takes a significant step further.”

Do your devs know what an accessible name is, why it’s important, and how web browsers calculate it? This guide is worth reading to better understand names, visible labels, descriptions and related techniques.

For the accessibility people and developers: I just wrote a simple bookmarklet tool that tries to give a visual analogy for failing to code structural and semantic information into web pages:

Open to suggestions.
Looking forward to listening into this year’s Green Digital Accessibility conference in Barcelona over the next couple of days.

Last week, @dotjay.bsky.social gave a talk about the European Accessibility Act, and its impact on the mobile app space. Perhaps more importantly, he covered what you can do about it leading up to 28 June 2025 (when the Act comes into effect) and beyond.
