What side? South side was ok'ish for me this morning. I did let some air out of the tires before the commute today.
I use a blend/average/gut feel of the Weather Network and Accuweather forecasts to get a feel of what is upcoming. :)
If one of them had dropped a blade I would have had a substantially easier ride.
A google maps view of the area around the Strait of Hormuz, with crude markup showing the 4 steps to successfully clearing the strait: 1. Build up speed 2. Hit Trampoline 3. Cool backflip 4. Nail the landing The boat is illustrated using a clip art yacht, and the trampoline is also just kind of floating there.
wait. wait. everyone hold on. i've solved it
#yycbike report (0530) Eau Claire, Riverwalk, Bow north MUP and Nose creek all snow covered ~4cm. Snow is the thick type that really makes you work for it. I passed two plows heading south on Nose Creek, not plowing but I assume heading to do around the zoo. Side streets are going to get snirty.
Oh noes, I always thought it was Glorp Shitto. Time to hand in my nerd card I guess. I've lost my Star War knowledge.
The Singularity is upon us: Apple's AI summarized a text message that read "I'm still down to clown if you are" to.... "clown event still possible."
They are probably the "avid cyclists" that rail against separated infrastructure too.
Hello I would like to share with you my new-and-improved website that compiles 46 years' worth of baby-names data in Alberta:
albertababynames.com
It now includes the latest data (for 2025) and a similar-names function to easily browse through various spellings in naming trends.
Bikestradamus π
The crew assigned to it this season is absolutely killing it. There will be 311's logged to compliment them and hopefully keep them on that section.
The Bearspaw Feeder Main is now offline for essential maintenance. While crews carry out this critical work, Calgarians can help by conserving water. Small actions across our city make a big difference. Letβs work together and keep Calgaryβs water system strong. www.calgary.ca/savewater
#yycbike report: Eau Claire cleared, Riverwalk from Centre street east ~2cm cover. Bow north MUP similar conditions including around the zoo with some bare patches. Nose Creek cleared beautifully, almost fully bare pavement. I found the conditions to be much better than expected.
Check it out #yycbike, you love to see it.
For a personal finance story, I'm looking to speak with Canadians about transportation costs + housing. Did you buy a more affordable house farther out, then find vehicle costs + travel time added up? Or are you considering transportation in a house hunt? DM or email cailynn.klingbeil@gmail.com Thx!
Haha, I'm a "Oregon Trail" style rider in these conditions, ford all the death puddles! And then yes, ride the brakes to remove the inevitable ice.
friend sent this over from the other place and unfortunately I did laugh
After losing the Y there I'm just happy we got a publicly accessible park. I quite like the little trampoline inset into the ground.
A picture of the Golden Eagle next to the Magpie, showing the size discrepancy between the two.
Spotted a big Golden Eagle on the Bow River yesterday at Princeβs island. Enjoy the video commentary. π
Thatβs just a national pastime at this point. π Being Calgary born and raised it has been fascinating to watch public opinion change for WestJet too.
So much nicer than the drift snow last week.
Please note the multiple tracks from the native Snow snake, as nobody actually rides a bike in the winter.
Dispatch from the βwar on carβ. Bike forces struck overnight and ensured main roads were cleared with minimal snowfall accumulation while keeping pathways covered in 3cm of the white stuff. Master stratergy. #yycbike
Were you by chance trying this heading westbound on Riverwalk and went up the centre street bridge today? If so, I was behind you a bit heading home.
I'm just glad it's only a war on one car (unless it's mine)... #yycbike
Which car at we at war on? Glad it's only one. Oh noes, what if it's mine?
Terrible trigger discipline.
This connector is such a continual disappointment, I go out of my way to not ride on it.
