πŸ“£ Life update:
Starting this fall, I will be a high school AP math teacher!

I’m excited for this opportunity to educate and grow in my professional career!

(I will definitely be looking for as many activities and Astro examples to use in my classroom. 😁)

Knowledge Dump! πŸ’πŸ”

A thread of information or facts that I’ve either just learned or re-remembered (bc let’s face it, we all forget and there is no shame in re-educating yourself).

While the first picture combines the two telescopes, here you can see how different they are. Hubble is seeing much more of the hot, glowing gas, while JWST sees emission from the dust. Using telescopes sensitive to different wavelengths like these 2 helps give a complete picture of the universe!3/3

A cluster of distant, mainly elliptical galaxies. They appear as brightly shining points radiating golden light that each take the shape of a smooth, featureless oval. They crowd around one that is extremely large and bright. A few spiral galaxies of comparable size appear too, bluer in colour and with unique shapes. Of the other, more small and distant galaxies covering the scene, a few are warped into long lines.

πŸŽ¨πŸ” A portrait of a galaxy cluster

A massive, spacetime-warping cluster of galaxies is the setting of today’s NASA/ESA #Hubble Space Telescope image.

The galaxy cluster in question is Abell 209 and shows more than a hundred galaxies, but there’s more to this cluster than the eye can see...

Physicist makes space for space careers Laura Forczyk turned her physics degree into a thriving consultancy business for the space industry.

A very inspiring space career story for everyone, not just those with backgrounds in astro! Written by @alainaglevine.bsky.social
