Popular Wrestling Satire Site Turns Fake News Into Real Book
Happy World Book Day! My new book is a kindle deal this month if that's your vibe. It's a funny murder mystery with ghosts and pro-wrestling and an angry terrier. I think you'll like it, it may distract you from the horrors. www.amazon.co.uk/Grapples-Wra...
Covers to issues 1-3 of Wrestle Heist! by Kyle Starks. They feature characters from the series, pro wrestlers Sterling Steele, Gravedigger, and Bearwolf, in a format that parodies classics wrestling magazines.
Recent comics reading round-up: I just read all three issues of Wrestle Heist! by @thekylestarks.bsky.social and HOLY CROW are you missing out if you are not reading this series. It’s got action, intrigue, jokes, pathos and pretty much everything I want in a comic book.
Episode 90 of the podcast A Decided Highlander is up where I speak with the great wrestling author Ian Douglass about his new book and so much more. Check it out where you get your podcasts.

The book Death of the Territories by Tim Hornbaker. "Expansion, betrayal, and the war that changed pro wrestling forever."
not too far into this yet but it's already very interesting

'Big Daddy versus Giant Haystacks a super heavyweight story' book cover by Steven Bell, published by Pitch
Out on the 23rd March 'Big Daddy vs Giant Haystacks'!
Written by Steven Bell who did a sterling job with 'Dynamite and Davey' so this should be a great book on UK wrestling!
As some of you know, I’m writing a book on the origins of PRIDE Fighting. At heart, it's a pro #wrestling story.
This interview, translated from the original Japanese, represents the kind of primary source material I’m using to build that narrative—PRIDE through a completely different lens. #MMA
Drew McIntyre writes foreword for book about Scottish wrestling history in North America

The other was more dark comedy in The Gimmick. A wrestler who secretly has super powers accidently kills his opponent in the ring. He then lays low, adopting a new gimmick as a masked wrestler, while his personal life starts to catch up to him. Really fun but I wish it were a series.
Irresistible Force: The Life and Times of Gorilla Monsoon.
Almost 100 pages in. I had no idea Gorilla had amateur credentials. #wrestling
Anyone a fan or curious about ECW? Take a look at my buddy's book documenting the history of ECW and check out his podcast talking about different Mount Rushmores of wrestling

My copy of Wrestle Heist by @thekylestarks.bsky.social finally arrived. If you have even a passing interest in pro-wrestling, grab this book, but if you don't care about wrestling, the revenge story will still entertain you. The Mt. Rushmore list is fun. Nice choices @joannestarer.bsky.social
Chris Candido: No Gimmicks Needed
Started the Chris Candido book this morning. It's a pretty good wrestling book so far.
3. Irresistible Force: The Life and Times of Gorilla Monsoon. I know I'm biased since Gorilla is one of my heroes but far and away the best pro wrestling book I have ever read, and an overdue subject to get a book. Got it for my birthday and had to fight myself to put it down. Highest recommendation
My book "Turning The Tables: The Story of Extreme Championship Wrestling" is 99p on Kindle throughout January (UK only deal). Reposts much appreciated. www.amazon.co.uk/Turning-Tabl...
The front cover of Kent Walton's book "This Grappling Game", featuring a stylised red and black image of a wrestling match, and promising "over 200 plates of your favourites"
I finally picked up this book - in good nick, and signed by the great man himself - and am thoroughly enjoying it; it's from 1967, so it's fascinating to see which wrestlers are deemed worthy of discussion from way back then, and in what light.
Some superb photos too, might do a thread on them.
The Mouth of the South: The Jimmy Hart Story
#Nowreading
A book @literarygrrrl.bsky.social found at recycled reads on our visit there in November. The Mouth of the South. #Booksky #Wrestling
A hardback copy of The Grapples of Wrath by Alice Bell is laid on a rabbit themed cushion.
Finished this morning!!
What an excellent book, I really enjoyed reading this, and could barely put it down @abeewords.bsky.social
Would very much recommend if you enjoy murder mysteries with ghosts and dark millennial humour, plus there is wrestling.
Such a good book.

With upcoming publication of my sixth book, "PACHINKO MAN: The Life and Meaning of Pro Wrestling Legend Rikidōzan," concussioninc.net has a fresh look: concussioninc.net?p=16473
Front cover of Blue Blood on the Mat, The all-in wrestling story, by Sir Atholl Oakeley, featuring two large gentlemen, grappling
It’s the 95th anniversary today of Atholl Oakeley’s wrestling debut, a fact made slightly more remarkable by the fact that he was actually Sir Atholl Oakeley, 7th Baronet of Shrewsbury, whose alma maters included Clifton College and Sandhurst
It's pretty good. Interesting to hear from a refs perspective. Has several road stories so probably up your alley 🙂
Looks good, it's on my to-be-read pile, might read it next (once I've finished Jimmy Korderas')
Sickles, Studs & Stolen Cars: The Many Faces of Barry Darsow
I read this yesterday. I wouldn't say it's my favorite wrestling book but it's a great example of how I like my wrestling books - funny road stories, not a lot of non-wrestling content, no ass kissing. Darsow seems like a nice guy.
