A list of actors who have played queer roles, with text challenging the myth that it's a career-ender

Various producers tried for YEARS to make a film of The Front Runner, a popular novel from the 70s about a gay athlete, but they couldn't find a star willing to play a gay character. Eventually, in frustration, they ran this ad in Variety.
It's still never been adapted.

Just caught an interesting choice in the movie Cruising -- a minor character who bookends the film in a dual role. Sometimes he's in uniform, snarling about how gross gays are ... and then other times, we see him cruising for sex in bars & the park. Nobody's what they seem in this movie.
