At OCR head offices today, which I should be really excited about but my imposter syndrome is stronger than ever that's to everything that's been going on
Very recently I've had to reframe some stuff that happened during sixth form that really shouldn't have happened to me or anyone else. The scary thing is how easy it's been for the people who are meant to look after children to take the easy route for the past 20 years.
The ridiculous thing is they've gone and cut funding supporting Computer Science education in schools, making it harder for us to train up teachers to support students be able to get these jobs.
I don't think work will let me have more time off.
However, if you don't jump through the hoops, your child is discharged from having any help at all.
It feels impossible to work full time and get the help your child needs.
Want to know why so many parents of disabled kids are out of work? Rather than support we just get sent on parenting courses. After completing a 10 week one, which K was apart of, we now have been asked to attend a 6 week one, parents only. This would be parenting course number 8 in 5 years.
Cheers, I'm taking small comfort that my daughter is on meds and we managed to get it through the NHS, she'd be lost without them.
I was diagnosed under Right To Choose (so private but paid for by the NHS) however now they are saying my diagnosis won't be recognised under the local care trust and I have to be reassessed by their team, I've not managed to get on meds yet, and probably never will 😞
@mrtonylee.bsky.social What on earth Tony!?!?! Ant has just came down and showed me his kindle!
I was today years old when I realised that the Black Cauldron is based on a Welsh story and also full of Welsh words 🤦♀️
Something I haven't heard about during this ADHD meds shortage is how badly it's affecting the kids. Students who I teach are currently in free-fall, no meds and no support as TA/SEN support is now at the bare bones. You do everything you can as a teacher but they need more that we can give.
Felted meerkat
My latest hobby is felting, it consists of stabbing something repeatedly, it's very therapeutic 😀
Oh I forgot about Yonderland. I'll have to try and find it. Thanks
She loves Ghosts but has finished it so is looking for something else. History seems to be a big draw for her so I thought this would be OK. Straight away she said "there's no Richard IV" 🤣 She's now learnt about historical fiction.
Taking a risk and introducing Kara to Blackadder. I know she'll like it, I just can't remember how suitable for a nearly 9 year old it is.
Today's fun included being told I'll have to "ration" my ADHD child's medication as there's a shortage of all types of it and it won't be sorted until January. 😞 I wonder if other countries are facing this issue.
Kara has caught me watching ghosts, she's a huge HH fan, I can't think of any reason she can't watch it..
I love my Twsbi Eco. It writes smoothly and I love the see-through chamber so I can see my ink (I love the Diamine Shimmers)
Yes I feel that, I work in one school, visit up to 8 more, plus Karas school. I'm surprised I'm not ill more.
Not sure if I want to watch the new Hunger Games series, dystopian fiction seems to have lost all its fun and edge. 🤨
Also all of the "good" that they do in the community is often the extra unpaid hours of employees, who aren't actually paid that much better than the state sector. Staff are very much guilted and strong armed into doing it, often at the expense of their own wellbeing.
I can honestly say from my experience the "charitable status" of most private schools is a joke. They all need reassessment. Some brag that 10% of there students are on scholarship but what they don't say is how small those scholarships can be.
Yes. It will be interesting to see if other media outlets adapt.
I hate the about me part of social media profiles. I never know what to write.
