Stories create community.
Community creates belonging.
This is how we grow into ourselves β together.

If youβre in the Bay Area (or visiting MLK weekend), Iβd love for you to join us. Bring a friend. Bring someone who needs this kind of space.
And this is just the beginning.
Weβre planning regular storytelling pop-ups across the Bay Area β the early bones of what Gather could become: a home for belonging and community
As Lydia X. Z. Brown says:
βOur stories are not optional. They are necessary for liberation.β
This event is about reclaiming narrative β and practicing self-advocacy together.
Youβll hear 5-minute stories + poems from youth and adults. Not panels. Not lectures. Just honest reflections on identity, strength, challenge, and belonging.
On Jan 18, weβre hosting a neurodivergent storytelling event at Mannyβs in SF:
Growing Into Ourselves: Stories of Neurodivergent Strength

Too often, stories about ADHD, autism, or dyslexia get told about people, not by them.
Thatβs part of why I founded The RILEY Project β to create space for people to speak in their own voice.
Storytelling has always been how we make sense of the world β how we connect, remember, and understand each other. But neurodivergent stories rarely get the space they deserve.
π£ If youβre neurodivergent, your lived experience matters. Help shape what comes next β share your story at:

Weβre not waiting for perfect conditions.
When the gaps widen, we gather.
Because belonging is policy, too.
#Gather #Belonging #Inclusion
Storytelling is policy in its most human form.
It reminds us who we are before we start writing rules about what we should be.
#Belonging #CivicLife
Maybe belonging canβt be solved by policy alone.
Maybe it starts with a table, a cup of coffee, and an open chair.
#GatherTogether #Belonging
When we center lived experience, data becomes direction, not decoration.
#TheRILEYProject #SocialImpact

#Belonging #CivicLife
The RILEY Projectβs storytelling nights arenβt events β theyβre blueprints for how community learns to listen again.
#Neurodiversity #Gather
Stories donβt just inspire β they design.
Each story told in public changes what we imagine possible in policy and practice.
#Storytelling #SystemsChange
When systems compete, people fall through cracks.
When systems connect, community thrives.
Thatβs the shift Gather is here to make.
#Collaboration #CivicInnovation
Gather isnβt charity. Itβs civic architecture β an economic model of belonging.
#ImpactDesign #Inclusion
Every coffee poured funds inclusion.
Every story told builds understanding.
Every small act contributes to the architecture of belonging.
#TheRILEYProject #Community
Imagine a cafΓ© that doubles as a classroom.
A bookstore that funds micro-grants.
A supper club that pays for scholarships.
Gather isnβt theory β itβs continuity you can touch.
#SocialEnterprise #Gather
The goal was never to make another program.
Itβs to make a continuum β a living system where schools, cafΓ©s, and stories meet.
#Gather #Belonging
Belonging shouldnβt depend on luck or proximity.
It should be something we can build β as intentionally as roads or water lines.
Thatβs what Gather is all about.
#SocialInfrastructure #Inclusion
Every policy failure leaves a human echo β a missed service, a closed school, a parent left without help.
But the response can be reconstruction, not despair.
We build new scaffolding β together.
#SystemsChange #TheRILEYProject
When the scaffolding of public life shakes, we donβt rebuild alone.
We gather β to listen, feed, and design what comes next.
Belonging isnβt a sentiment. Itβs infrastructure.

But what if we refuse to play along?
What if we stopped waiting for the next crisis and started building something stronger?
π‘ Instead of defunding inclusion, we fund solutions.
π‘ Instead of restricting access, we expand opportunity.
π‘ Instead of silencing voices, we amplify them.
I guess the scary part about the past month is how we, as a country, have engaged in a not-so-silent negotiation with the truth.
