You're doing a great job. You can reduce food costs a bit by growing your own, not buying meat fish or dairy and using up all the leftovers. But of course you could be doing this already π

The additional cost of ONE fossil fuel price spike on the scale of 2022 = the ENTIRE COST of Net Zero by 2050. We get precisely nothing in return for the first cost, and a whole new, more secure and cheaper energy system from the second one.

That's so early
Very alarming but so little reaction?
So grim, no words
The EPA has repealed the landmark finding that climate change endangers lives.
"Ignoring the smoke doesn't quell the fire. Americans will get sicker, extreme weather will get worse, and our planet will get warmer if we don't rapidly curb greenhouse gas emissions." - @globalecoguy.bsky.social
And memories seem incredibly short. Here in the UK we have loads of plants flowering in January, which used to come out in March. If I comment on this most people just look a bit baffled and still complain its too cold!!
Graphic showing weekly concentration of CO2 in parts per million for the years from 2020 to 2026. We are currently setting new record high levels.
Carbon dioxide (COβ) surpassed 430 ppm last year. How high will it go for the seasonal maximum in 2026?

If the Palestine Action hunger strikers die - which they could do at any moment, as they are now very close to the end - it will be the government that killed them. Todayβs column explains why. Please share, and write urgently to your MP.

Worlds richest families have never been richer - Walton's lead with net worth of $513bn
This is obscene. Why can't other politicians say that?
The 25 richest families are collectively $358.7 billion richer than a year ago, with a combined fortune totaling $2.9 trillion.
How to buy yourself a needy malignant narcissist? Just offer him a phony, made up "Peace Prize" & he's all your's!!!
No need for a formal ceremony as he'll snatch from the box & put it on all by himself. Both laughably pathetic AND pathetically laughable. π€‘ π«£
Correct Rupert, so we need to focus on 1. the economic system and the disastrous growth imperative and 2. Nature connection across the whole of society
Itβs time to voice an ugly truth:
Iβve been talking recently {privately} with ecologists, with very senior figures in the environmental NGOs, with activists and lawyers. What they say - privately - is stark:
>This Govt is even worse on nature than the Sunak & Johnson Govts<.

Thankfully the planetβs tipping points have been instructed to hold back for 15 years until the centrally approved spreadsheet says 1.5C had been breached for 15 years in a row.
Arenβt we lucky that the climate spreadsheets control our planet, and not the laws of physics?
This trade is chilling to me. Represents cruelty and exploitation on a vast scale. When can we live in a world which trears non himan animals with genuine respect?

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.
The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.
Read that back.
When 400 people control more wealth than half a countryβs population, we have a very serious problem.
