Little excited baby standing on the back of a couch looking out the window
That same baby outside, not enjoying himself
Babyβs first snow, and he loved it from inside but upon closer inspection was unimpressed.
I think itβs likely both. He absolutely would do summary executions of POWs but also thinks that βno quarterβ is just a thing you say that means βtoughβ
Eldritch horror from the Robots (2005) universe
Man credit scores make so much more sense when you realize they don't measure your ability to pay off your debts, they measure the banks' ability to make money off of your debts. This is why regular non-debt payments like rent don't count in your favor and why paying off loans early dings you.
I *really* don't want to be a downer but to me the precursor to Doing is Saying, and not nearly enough of this Party is saying what needs to be said. About punishing the villains, about abolishing billionaires, about ending elite impunity. Too many want to leave the rot but change the branding
I can't raise a red enough flag for the way states are attacking trans people in this moment. It is extremely bad, and escalating quickly (and relatively quietly)
Like Kate Winslet could play gollum but Andy Serkis could not play Rose Dewitt-Bukator
Kate Winslet is actually the only person who could give Andy Serkis a run for his money re: gollum
"LLMs simply don't make mistakes like the ones you see here in this passage from Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy" is jokerizing
goddamn is this a breath of fresh air after Allred 2024
Iβm currently reading China Mievilleβs EMBASSYTOWN and I do feel like i get it. I too do not recognize language that is not spoken to me by a soul.
There's also the fact that Rowling has been fairly explicit that the money she earns through Harry Potter she's putting into anti-trans lobbying efforts.
There's a difference, IMHO, between an artist with a shitty private life, and an artist using their money to fund regressive social change.
The idea that βAs well ask men what they think of stoneβ is somehow flawed rather than the most beautifully sculpted sentence Iβve seen shared from that NYT article is gonna turn me into the joker
I remember I used to get this question a lot of βwhat if you liked some piece of writing and then it turned out an AI wrote itβ and when my answer was βthen Iβd stop liking itβ itβs like it fucking short circuited people
I mean the AI example is complete ass and if you canβt see why it is worse writing, even without any context, than a passage from fucking Blood Meridian than idk what to tell you bud
Itβs maddening because trains are such a huge part of our cultural heritage, but only old trains for some reason??? Like was America too big for trains back in the 1890s or not??
Literally from anywhere in the country of Iran! The only way to make the strait passable was to not start a war with any of the countries capable of shutting it down!
This is hardly the point, but I donβt think this is what βspecialty coffeeβ is. Fancy coffee drinks have been popular for 30 years now, but the thing that has surged in the last 15 is high end import coffee and specialty roasters. That coffee is usually had black!
morethanjustparks.substack.com/p/blm-announ... there's info on who to complain to to try to stop this at the end of the article, lets share this message and try our best to stop it.
FWIW Iβm not trying to be flippant and I usually agree with all your posts. But there IS some policy that once a democrat adopts it, it is a red line for their voters. Newsom wants to erase trans people, but why should they vote for their own erasure when he could very easily change his policy?
Sure, but they made their positions well known and Harris could have adopted those positions and earned those votes. She chose not to earn those votes and she owns the outcome of that. If we canβt require politicians to adopt our policies then whatβs the point of any of this?
Yeah, but I think everyone has their own red lines. Like, if Harris was pro-Gaza but
wanted to overturn gay marriage, is it still incumbent on us to vote for her? I voted for her in the end, but I donβt judge any of my Palestinian-American friends for not, because I canβt justify why they should
The funny thing is the country very much still is this, theyβre just not a child anymore and donβt have children of their own!
Pitching Monsters Inc as βThe Ones Who Walk Away from Omelasβ x THE SAINT OF BRIGHT DOORS
LOL I was wondering why they werenβt mentioning Sandcastle by name earlier in the season
Pitt season 1βs Pittsburgh fan service of Primantiβs and Iron City? Superficial. Wikipedia-level.
Pitt season 2 showing a furry in the hospital and saying βgum bandβ??? NOW weβre talking.
Hell yeah dude
