Anyway, I’m very much enjoying Pokemon Pokopia.
OK but imagine the apocalypse happened and you had to flee Earth and you couldn’t take any animals with you, and then when you finally came back to see what’s become of the world, there’s your cat sitting next to your rebuilt house like “I fixed it for you. I knew you’d come back if I did.”
You are a part of the great community of human creativity, and all writers are your peers. You learn from them, as a peer does; you carry on their work, or you improve upon them, or you repudiate them (or all three). All that you create is built in community with them.
If you're a writer, I encourage you to read widely--across lengths and genres and eras, self-published books and wildly popular books. Each author has a different way of solving the problems presented by a story, and in reading their solutions, you make those solutions available for your own work.
I have the equivalent conversation with my cat daily
So desperately, I just want to read, study, and write. A challenging career change to make by default.
I love reading what other people have to say. It brings me immense comfort in my darkest times.
So why do I find it so hard to believe that other people might care about what I have to say?
Not so much “happy” in a typical sense, but I prefer to write endings that are a net positive for my characters. Everyone is growing and healing, whether they like it or not!
That’s definitely a part of the “literary fiction” elements of my work.

I’m a happy ending kind of writer :)

4-panel comic. (1) [Person with white hat talking to another person.] PERSON 1 with white hat: As Sherlock Holmes said, When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. (2) PERSON 2: What about the possibility that you forgot to eliminate a possibility? Or that you eliminated one incorrectly? Both of those remain, too. (3) PERSON 1: You’re being pedantic. It’s just a general rule for deduction. PERSON 2: But it’s a *bad rule*. (4) PERSON 2: How often have you thought, “I can’t find this thing, and I’ve searched the whole house. The only place I haven’t looked is the car, so it *must* be there.” PERSON 2: ...And then it’s never in the car. PERSON 1: *It’s never in the car!*

my local park is full of hundreds of snow sculptures and someone has been adding museum labels
A little known annoyance of being a writer and a lifelong reader: sometimes I can see another writer beginning to pull the threads they've woven tight, and I know the plot point we're working toward will piss me off but is a necessary part of the story. I SEE YOU MAKING ME FEEL THINGS, JERK. RUDE.
I’m proud of my work, and I take a lot of pride in being a writer. Something that’s helped is learning to separate “I do good work” from “my work is what this particular client, company, publisher, or reader wants.”
Reading my own book for fun has been an interesting way to practice accepting that it’s enough and complete in its current form. Despite noticing the small edits I could still make, I accept that what exists is final and keep reading. It’s been weirdly humbling.
You get me
BIRDS/CRANES.GIF
Visual descriptions of ordinary people and places. I tend to forget about them the first time around. (I’ll tell you what the dragon looks like, though!)
An overhead view of a Sims 4 recreation of the Galactic Starcruiser's Climate Simulator room, which is a little rock garden/patio type area.
Another angle of the Sims 4 recreation of the Galactic Starcruiser's Climate Simulator room, closer to floor level.
Okay, after a few months of distractions by other stuff, I'm back to see if I can complete this thing sometime soon. I think I'm basically done with the Climate Simulator. Today's work was mostly fighting with the limitations of roofs and the things hanging from them. #TheSims4 #GalacticStarcruiser
How do I journey on the way,
When what I seek (my weary travel’s end)
Doth teach that ease and that repose to say,
“Thus far the miles are measur’d from thy friend.”
The bird is very cool. Maybe the bird has a friend who is a wee knight. Just the right size to ride on the bird, perhaps…
My brain did an odd thing just now looking at your username and read it as “wee knight writers” so now I’m imagining a tiny person in a suit of armor with a quill and parchment
An open linen closet, with a cat lounging on the middle shelf
Gizmo found a new cozy hiding place this morning.
A screenshot of the reel that says "How many aromantic books do I have?" and then it's a spread of 17 different covers, all books written or edited by Claudie Arseneault, and under them is writetn "Just a few... (it's almsot all of them)
Made this into a reel for the other place but i dunno, I just wanted to show you all, I'm so proud of them all :3
Tis my #AroWeek offering 😂💚

Oh nooooo
Baruch Dayan HaEmet / ad astra to the incomparable Catherine O'Hara.
What a light.
You know the way home again.
I've wanted to write a novel for such a long time. It feels great to be actually doing the thing.
