However we can:
🧠 contribute to research to help us learn more
🧠 ensure we discuss it with patients and carers and consider post-D care
🧠 pursue active screening/ diagnosis and aim for 100% #4AT #justdoit
🧠 talk about it with our teams as the critical illness it is, and stop it being minimised
Since I started work we’ve made so much progress with diagnosing delirium, ascertaining its relationship with dementia, and advocating for informed and compassionate care of people suffering it.
Still so much to do though and so many unknowns…..

‘No evidence of disease’ surely up there 😉
We need a catch up!
The Scottish sun with a headline describing admission avoidance and alternative pathways as ‘granny bouncing’
Strong House of God vibes from the Sun today….
Headline does no favours to older people or the folk looking after them
Are you at the digital health conf tomorrow by any chance?
This is Such a cool space (literally, and figuratively)
Slightly forgot about Burns night so made tofu curry which is quite possibly as far from haggis as you can get 😂

She has a memoire coming out in June, I’m excited!
It’s the PhD life! It’s an amazing building. If I was still working at RIE I’d be in a reg room with no windows ☺️
View over RIE towards craigmillar castle in the afternoon sun
Not a bad view from here! Usher building looking over RIE to Craigmillar castle
Several of Kate Atkinsons Jackson Brodie books are set here, as are Rebus of course!
Until I find you by John Irving has some bits set here (not my fave Irving though)
The burnings by Naomi Kelsey is very fun (about the Scottish witch hunts)
In German 😂

Cold sheep on todays winter run ❄️🥶🏃♀️👟🐑🐏😀
We had this once with home made olive tapenade! Tragically it was decided it was a liquid but suggested we could decant it into our palms to carry through and then eat. Had a few spoons then left it behind
New preprint! Which regions of the human brain are most strongly related to individual differences in general cognitive functioning? And what are the underlying neurobiological properties of those areas? | bioRxiv | doi: 10.1101/2024.12.17.628670 🧠
Lovely photos ❤️
I love being given the number early when I’m on call! Can look stuff up if at a computer or if not have the info down for later.
Ooh it’s my fave! We got engaged at the gardens there too so lots of happy memories. My mini is obsessed with both books and trains so should plan a trip really!

What a mare. I did have shoes but that was it really 😨
Really impressive to see trainees helping with replies too
It’s my turn, I managed to forget to put my entire work bag in the car today. No ID, no laptop and worst of all no leftovers sandwich from our Christmas dinner trial run 😨
This is lovely Jenni ❤️
Thank you! I always enjoy your BMA columns - and it’s so good to have Geris represented for those reasons too. Now OOPR so lots of time to actually read (and write too) 😀
Iron studies!
Ha! Guilty of writing the odd one so also guilty of cognitive bias. And to be fair there’s overlap I think
