I’m glad that I went down to a beautiful essay!

Right??? Meanwhile I’m like, I grew up in a small town where I constantly had to smell pig shit all over the place. Is that better?????

I think we have a fundamental disagreement about what’s more important.

I’d rather people not go to prison for something that shouldn’t be illegal.

You’d rather send people to prison for using a relatively harmless drugβ€”less harmless than alcohol, for exampleβ€”because you don’t want to smell it.

…define β€œshit hole.”

Pretty sure most people would rather live in Seattle, Portland, NYC, Minneapolis, or one of the other cities with legal weed than any of the ones without it.

……..what exactly is your point

14.03.2026 15:56 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Or just don’t live in a city lol

14.03.2026 15:54 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Like, seriously. You’re gonna smell shit in a city. There are other people around. Pick your poison. I’d rather pot smoke than 85% of the other options.

14.03.2026 15:53 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

What if I told you that smelling weed doesn’t hurt you

14.03.2026 15:53 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

what's cute about this story is that they have no idea how the internet works. my dudebros in doge, it is too late.

It’s a city. I’d rather smell weed than hot human shit and garbage.

Respectfully, eat shit. Those kids were expelled, arrested, and targeted relentlessly by their school administrations with the specific goal of preventing further protest. Eighteen year old kids were held down and maced by campus security, hit point blank with tear gas canisters by riot cops.

Honestly, I am absolutely disgusted by academics suggesting that AI can do the reading and writing for you. At a certain point, what you're bragging about is fraud. And in a broader sense, what you're contributing to is the erosion of knowledge and the destruction of trust in academic publishing.

Every time I see something that’s supposedly β€œLynchian” that doesn’t have room in its dreamy/nightmarish haze for something absurd or hilarious I feel like I got kinda ripped off, ngl

No, but I would like to (burn every data center involved)

I might be more willing to use AI if the the AI enthusiasts didn’t talk so much like

-people recruiting for a religious cult
-frat boys at my first college party trying to get me to drink the mysterious dark liquid from the red solo cup they just handed me
-19th century snake oil salesmen

When you support indie booksellers and bookstores, you are supporting human curation, the exercise of judgment and taste, the storefronts that make cities interesting. You make it possible for writers and readers outside the mainstream to be found again. You support real people who love literature.

Iran's government is more hardline, its people are poorer and more isolated, the region's on fire, and the global economy feels like its about to go into shock

If you want to know why people wanted to avoid war with Iran for so long, you're finding out in real time
