I drive with one hand shackled to my seat. The anti-static restraint keeps my voltage in check. Without this flimsy wristband, my charge would leak. And I can’t let any of my storm loose. My wife Jessica wouldn’t understand its thunder. Under the anti-static band, the glowing red edge of Lizzy’s fingerprint flickers. I hide the dream marks in my jacket sleeve. I want to tell my wife, but she can’t hear the frequency I speak. Jessica hasn’t been tuned to my wavelength lately. So I can’t talk and I can’t move. I can only drive. “Ben, stop changing my music.” Thunder Starved. It’s a playlist filled with songs that tease my tongue with lightning. Songs that summon storms behind my eyes when I sleep. My heart rumbles when I hear the first guitar strings.
