Pretty sure he means "straights"
I mean I'll just say that's not the case in Columbia City. The CCBA is the primary political actor and has an inordinate amount of power.
Also I want to be clear I said privileged access not that they get to write the laws. Business owners have business districts that can formally request meetings with staff and business owners in general can adjust their schedules to make it to meetings during work.
Do you think that maybe small business owners being so out of touch with the electorate and making up such absurd things to avoid saying what they really think is part of why they aren't even getting concessions anymore?
Look man, I just think that business owners are given privileged access to policy makers and staff and they should actually be able to articulate their concerns and engage with how those concerns would be addressed honestly in exchange for that access and not engage in concern trolling
Does this mean there's no "pride" match at the world cup this year?
... Having people on staff is obviously different in a very meaningful way from automated systems which could be overridden. You can't just handwave that away.
If these business owners were honest in their objections then we could have that conversation. The objections on offer are "historic elements" and "why not somewhere else"
If business owners want to be taken seriously they need to actually come to the take with their real concerns.
I'm so sick of business owners
Ngl I thought it was kinda artsy. Has a sorta urban camo vibe.
I really would like our leaders to dream big about what the Southend could be. Let's stop arguing about the price of parking and have a real conversation any what we want.

Parcel viewer screenshot showing 35th and 36th ave rights of way
We'd obviously have to do this parcel by parcel to verify, but it does look like there's a 36th ave right of way that still exists which could offer access.
Post your favorite photo of a multifamily building that would single handedly meet Mercer Island's "robust" housing growth target!
Katie Wilson is proposing a 7-year, $410 million library levy renewal. The previous 7 year levy approved in 2019 was $219 million.
Expanded hours, building infrastructure upgrades, and increased materials are being put front-and-center with the renewal.
This is a nextdoor level take, especially directed at me.

People got mad about change. So will you be happy if we bribe you with $4 parking for 8 months?
Where? Which of the residential areas around Rainer in Columbia City are you going to reallocate from residential parking?
We should make sure that employees of businesses in Columbia City can get to work including people that drive, that's why I support the employee RPZ permits in Columbia City which give employees free unlimited neighborhood parking.

That's why in the Columbia City RPZ businesses can get rpz passes for employees! Employees who have to drive can park for free a block away from Rainer instead of paying for parking!
Everyone responding negatively to this is confusing what they want to happen (cheaper abundant parking) with what will happen (no available parking spaces).
I live in Columbia City. Most people that live nearby don't care about the parking prices because we don't drive.
Brett, it's more expensive to park in Columbia City because rich people drive to Columbia City from the lake Washington hills. People that live in the less wealthy areas aren't driving they are taking the bus and paying $6 per round trip. Pricing parking cheaper is a giveaway to the rich people.
SDOT just announced they are giving up on market based curb pricing in Columbia City. Lowering parking prices to $4/hr all but guaranteeing that paid parking in Columbia City is going to be impossible to find until they raise the prices back to $6+/hour.
The market apparently has object permanence that would rival that of a 5 month old.
The consistent talking point for this race is going to be "Sen. Pedersen is progressive enough", but my question is when will the older progressives in the party retire or use their name recognition to move up and make space for refreshing the bench with younger people?
For the same $6 trillion cost, you could crush child poverty with a child allowance and free childcare, fix unemployment insurance, do paid family, sick & medical leave, massively boost ACA subsidies, and eliminate child uninsurance with Medicare for Kids.
Are any transit advocates doing "learn to ride transit" programs in response to the oil prices yet?
And maybe it's as simple as who is likely to oppose the fixing bills. If it's people in your coalition it's better to get them on board behind the scenes to support the main bill. If it's people you disagree with anyway, it's ok to have the fight publicly.
Fwiw that's my feeling on this too, but I'm not sure I can articulate the "why".
Brand New five story building right next to the Columbia City station
New building behind a light rail train at the Columbia City station
I love how the Columbia City station area is growing! I'd like to understand where the plan to right-size MLK jr way S is though.
