I knew 2026 was going to be a big year for scientists moving around the country.
Destabilizations tend to force these kinds of things. And there has been so much destabilization.
We moved in 2025, and I hear a number of my colleagues are making big moves in 2026.
Buy, don't sell in tough times.

I don’t think this was something that needed to be said out loud. And Bryce is a self-motivated. He doesn’t need the president of baseball operations going out throwing shade and spurring trade talks. What good will that do for anyone involved, but to create animosity?

I understand how he’s feeling though, too. Particularly about the trade talk, which was spurred by Middleton’s comments. Bryce has fully embraced Philly as his own. And at the end of day it was the organization who decided to commit that to him knowing full well where he was in his career...

We Need a New Approach to Clinical Research on Paediatric Infections, Immunity and Neuropsychiatry
I so much believe in #longcovid that I think that all childhood infections may play a role in several (without known cause) neuropsychiatric illnesses.
in this piece we summarize what is already known and why my statement should not surprise you

I’ve been in academic medicine for 45 years. This is the first time I’m seeing a perfect storm, as proposed federal funding cuts threaten our ability to provide patient care, train the next generation of doctors, and conduct life-saving research. More from my conversation with @cnn.com last week.

Cutting the NIH—The $8 Trillion Health Care Catastrophe
This JAMA Forum discusses the recent budget cuts to National Institutes of Health (NIH), the effects of these cuts on scientific research and health of individuals in the US, and the prospects for cha...
I’m not typically a fan of cost benefit analysis in valuing life years gained or lost. But here the numbers are too big to ignore. $8.2 trillion of life years lost over 25 years vs a US budget savings of $500 billion over the same period. These NIH cuts will cost us dearly.
