Platforms like YouTube, TikTok and Instagram used to be called "social media" but that has been a misnomer for just as long. They're media giants that prefer to be called something else so they neither have to pay nor take responsibility for the content they provide. It's a far more lucrative model.
Basically the entire theory of not acting like a liar, bully, monster etc, aside from one's moral committments is that over time, acting like that makes people not want to interact with you or do business with you, etc... Trump's entire life theory is: what if you can get away with it forever?
I talked to dozens of experts in government, academia, cybersecurity, and industry about exactly this scenario last year and not only did not one of them think I was being alarmist, many brought it up unprompted and many said there was zero chance it hadn’t already happened
