I know people assume that just because a player had a great level at one time, them "dropping down" is going to make those things happen.

if only it were that easy, they'd all do it.

Hopefully she can get a bit of a roll going.

And if you want more epic flashbacks, here's a piece on 17-y-o Auger-Aliassime's run from a last-minute qualifier through to Raonic in 2018.
Plus a bonus interview where he talks about a BUNCHA stuff, including training with @rogerfederer.
Lots of vid.

If you missed this last night:
Almost exactly 8 YEARS after 16-year-old Gabriel Diallo was courtside on Stadium 3 at IW, watching FAA play Raonic and SO far away from imagining that could be him one day, there he was.
(With some vintage vid of baby Gab).

Big Canadian lineup this week on the #CanucksThisWeek beat.
Not just those still alive at Indian Wells, but Andreescu in Austin and two jam-packed ITF events in Quebec.

Here's the lineup:

I'm like a Pentagon journalist this week. Leaving the gushing, love-starved questions from fan boys to those who paid their own way to Indian Wells, while I do reporting from outside the building. 🀣

There's little value in spending the time and money these days, tragically.

This thing, as a whole, was an overlong marathon of self-indulgence.

But sprinkled in there are a few salient points – not particularly well made, but valid.

If you were wondering why Venus Williams and Leylah Fernandez didn't end up playing doubles at Indian Wells, after the WC was announced back on Feb. 20 - here's your answer.

Ariana Arseneault does the singles-doubles at the W15 in Trois-Rivières, while Justin Boulais does the same at a W25 in Portugal.
And five still alive in the desert.

Victoria Mboko probably *should* have beaten the eventual AO dubs champions Mertens and Zhang in the 2nd round with Iva Jovic.
On Friday, she got her revenge – with another teen, Mirra Andreeva.

Chaos and complications as ATP players try to exit Dubai – Open Court

Perhaps as many as 100 tennis people are stuck in Dubai, even as three wealthy Russians everyone is focusing on were able to get out.

It was a fraught day with some crazy twists for those stranded. And the ATP has an opportunity to do the right thing.

On the men's side, the final in Dubai never happened (in the grand scheme, irrelevant).
Cobolli wins in Acapulco and hits a career high.

And 5 of the top 10 dubs players are ... Brits.

Yesterday marked 4 years since Russia invaded Ukraine. And the tiny tennis universe changed in a heartbeat.
We flash back to a seemingly innocuous, but somehow deeply symbolic and poignant moment on the practice courts at Indian Wells a few weeks later.
