The New BSG was intended for a mature audience vs the previous intended for 10 year olds who want mommy to buy toys.

My only problem with the new BSG was basically this, too much sexual overtones and too much bleakness. It was like every character was a sociopath or had a assertive attitude.

Sci fi has always been very hard to make, quality wise.

As Tony Sopranos would say, what ya gonna do..

Ohh and the kingpin of old school sci fi that is beyond bad acting and stories, Battlestar Galactic, the original series...

Special effects were bad back then, and as far as acting goes comparing it to other shows of its time table, the acting and stories were top notch. You wanna see gawd awful acting and stories watch space 1999, the Special effects were it's only saving grace.
