Retired and live in beautiful Maine. Used to live in CD-2, now live in CD-1. Will not obey in advance. Firmly believe that Trump is not a King and ICE is slippery and dangerous.

‘Operation Catch of the Day’ in Maine May Have Ended, but Fear and Trauma Remain Advocates say 'Operation Catch of the Day' caused lasting trauma and fear for many in Maine's minority and immigrant communities.

Good piece on the broad impacts of the ICE surge in Maine #mepolitics

Immigration operations cost Maine’s economy millions - MECEP The surge in activity by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in late January likely cost local economies millions of dollars in lost economic activity.

Also new from me - how ICE's "Operation Catch of the Day" cost Mainers, businesses and our economy as a whole millions of dollars #mepolitics

Trump doesn’t need approval for Iran war with ‘no boots on the ground,’ Susan Collins says President Trump does not need congressional approval to continue the Iran war as long as no troops are deployed, says Sen. Susan Collins.

Boots/no Boots isn’t a distinction I’ve heard anyone make before 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yeah, I can see that. Wishing you the best of luck as you try to decipher women’s clothing sizing. Also fair warning, if “our” clothes even have pockets they seem to be deliberately sized/shaped NOT to hold anything you might want to carry.

When you’re ignorant, you either announce that you would like to commit a war crime or you don’t know that it’s a war crime. Will someone please tell this man what “no quarter”means?

My old Lab would come back home covered with icicles in February but try to get him to go outside on a hot July day with a light sprinkle of rain —no way

A pillar of Portland’s working waterfront, Becky’s Diner has been serving up delicious food to both regulars and visitors for 35 years!

Congratulations on this milestone — here’s to many more years to come.

She might as well have just outright said that she’s willing to prosecute people whether or not there’s sufficient evidence to support that prosecution

Sizing is really incredibly awful for women’s clothes. Nothing is even close to being consistent or reflects how our bodies are. You have to try on everything.

✋ Former USG war crimes lawyer here.

Apropos of SecDef's remarks this morning:

Denial of quarter—even the declaration of no quarter—is a war crime.

And recognized as such by the US Government.

From DoD's Manual for Military Commissions.

Search-and-rescue crews were “flying blind” trying to rescue survivors from deadly tornadoes that hit the Midwest last week.

Why? Because Kristi Noem hadn't approved FEMA’s $200,000 contract with a tornado-tracking tool.

But she had time to spend $220 million on anti-immigrant ads. Priorities.

Not even the Nazis expressly announced they were committing war crimes. Indeed, at Nuremberg war crimes were denied.

But here, openly, the US Secretary for Defense is explicitly admitting to committing war crimes.

The Secret Police Playbook How DHS reflects historical lessons from dictatorships

New, at Can We Still Govern?: Christian Gläßel and
@ascharpf.bsky.social have studied the formation of secret police in other countries. They explain the parallels with Trump's immigration enforcement.
The key factor is career incentives not ideology. 🧵

Nice catch from @mainenewsroom.com (also spotted by @jamesxmyall.bsky.social): A federal agent told Maine cops they were leaving the state -- because of weather -- a FULL WEEK before Susan Collins implied she was responsible for their exit.

Typical self-aggrandizing Collins maneuver. #MEpolitics

I know this community very well. The Shenandoah club the Temple Israel statement refers to as providing food and shelter during this attack is the club established by Iraqi Chaldeans. This is really beautiful interfaith solidarity in action.

The reality is the American working class now consists less of masculine industries like manufacturing & steel mills, & more of jobs in the female-dominated service sector. Less than half of American workers are women, but they are the majority of the low-wage workforce
