He keeps telling on himself by doing ridiculous things like referring to residents as “shareholders” and dismissing “two sheets of ice” and a community space as things that don’t have value.

I haven't given up masking indoors in 2026 just because others have. It's not a virtue or thing I'm super jazzed about daily, it's basic survival. I can't afford to risk post-viral complications & really dislike being sick

We haven’t had the early April snow storm yet.

I skated on the oval AND rode my bike in short sleeves this morning. What a day!

I think there are more of us #BikeHfx folks caretaking this Diverter than there are other demolishing it.

We pieced together this from our morning travel:

8:30, barrels UP, jen thru, ONE barrel with black base
8:55, barrels DOWN, Chris thru, replaces barrels, ONE barrel with black base
9:30, barrels UP jen thru, TWO barrels with black bases

Between 8:55 & 9:30, at least one OTHER caretaker rode thru.

The Greatest Feeling in the World Seven months with an electric bike.

“When I got home, I sat on the floor, wearing my helmet, and sobbed until I was hoarse with the overwhelm of my joy. I’d just ridden a bike for an hour! A bike! For an hour!”

The premier of Nova Scotia’s ENTIRE plan is based on oil and gas extraction. He just said it on air. That is his only plan. Our biggest industry is tourism and he just cut $$ to tourism, arts & conservation (all reasons why people come here).

My favorite part of Houston's announcement was when he said resource extraction companies are going to come here, set up shop & spend money (before they destroy our environment & hide in tax havens). While ignoring that people who already live, work & spend money here are losing their livelihood.

Tim Houston announcing that he's rolling back cuts to just enough things that folks who don't care about a livable environment, history or arts will be enough to sustain his stupid fucking tax cut.

Keep the pressure going, folks, it clearly works. We got some stuff back for some marginalized folks.

The less Nova Scotians know about their past & feel connected to place, the easier it is for a government to redefine conservation areas & penalize people for not aligning use of land with exploitation.

History is dangerous, writers in schools are dangerous, artistic critique of power is dangerous.

Tuesday: 0/2, again!!

Kudos to whoever found the black rubber base for the barrel (presumably in snow bank melt) and fitted it back in place today between 8:30 and 9:30am.

There’s less than a week until the oval closes, and I’m trying to enjoy every last minute.

So, I’m passing through the #BikeHfx Donham Diverter more than I usually do, & am gonna count how many times I have to move the barrels to the middle.

Today (Monday): 0/2
No barrel moves required!

There has been a lot going on that's just awful but dang it we've got a great community here. So if you need some good news - just look at the people around you remember that good people are doing good things. We've got each other's backs.

I didn’t become a #SafeStreets advocate through ideology, but through experience. Drivers like this one parking on footpaths forcing me to push my kids in a stroller onto the road. Women are constantly told to think about safety in public spaces. Unsafe streets are a policy choice #VisionZero #IWD

The kid had a lesson with the school guidance counsellor this week, on the topic of gratitude. During which, he & two friends made this “thank you” poster for the staff of our local public library.

We will deliver it tomorrow, and hope that it brightens everyone’s day a little bit.

The best thing about Halifax is its people.
This thread of folks speaking at budget committee this week is a beautiful demonstration of people who care for each other and this city.
