The same Grey Heron as on the photo yesterday. The heron must have seen something to eat under the ice. He just miscalculated how thick (and slippery) the ice was.

I really love Khao Yai National Park. For over 20 years we come here regularly. Last March the area around one of the camp sites was just full of different species feasting on the fruits in the trees. Wherever we looked we saw amazing birds, among them were the hornbill or the beauty on this photo

National Park Lauwersmeer is popular among birders. In the evening light this reed bunting was showing itself. Other birds I saw there included the godwit, the avocet, cormorant, common shelduck, ringed plover, common redshank and so many more. #birds

This barn swallow was sitting on the small bridge leading into the famous Driehoek (triangle) of the Oostvaardersplassen. I suspect they might have built a nest underneath the bridge. #birds
