They have no unified culture and tend towards hermitry or small groups. Some live among populations of other species. They are almost unanimously adept with magic. Folklore and history alike weave tales of their power and the heroes (or villains) who successfully courted them. Some nations, for this reason, adopt a policy to hunt them down whenever they appear, and other cultures consider them sacred. Either approach tends to alienate them. No one has ever seen one reproduce. They have also not seen themselves reproduce, if you are rude enough to ask. Their life cycle is a mystery due to their low population and tendency towards loner lifestyles, though they can live for a century and some change. When killed they are reported to immolate violently, destroying themselves along with their surroundings.
