Something a bit different! https://buff.ly/3Qhfe32 had a loom issue, a pair of screws had sheared off on this component of her flying shuttle mechanism. So, I drilled out the screws, and re-drilled for a bolt instead. This really shouldn't shear off!

I really do love seeing them all laid out and organized like this - there's something satisfying about it.

All the tests that went into the two colours for the recent DKW Junior reupholstery job that @uppercanadaweaving.bsky.social is working on. 27 tests in total, so not too bad (I did 45 for a radio fabric a few years ago). They do make satisfying pages in the sample binders!

Scaled up batches for two colours @uppercanadaweaving.bsky.social is using to make upholstery fabric for a DKW Junior car. These hues are based off of an original swatch of fabric, and lots of testing went into getting a match.

Purples made by overdyeing indigo - you can see how drastically the shade of indigo effects the colour. I'm getting closer to the mark, but we're not there yet. #naturaldyes #smallbatchdyeing #yarnsky

Photograph showing woven samples at the top (original on left, attached to original sample card) and recreation swatch on the right, made using test colour skeins. Below that, two skeins of yarn lay across the table, one goldish and one quite pale. Atop them are two weaving pirns wound with yarns from the original colour tests, for comparison.

Pictures from a recent meeting with @uppercanadaweaving.bsky.social‬ to compare scaled tests against original samples and the swatch we have for recreating this upholstery fabric. I do scaled tests when colour matching is a primary focus, to make sure things will turn out right - these looked good!

Hello World!
Hope to find fibre folks here, and keep documenting my hours at the dye pots.
