Reading update.
9 books read this month & some favourites included The Overstory and Saoirse.
I've not bought a new new book in so long so when I saw Charlotte McConaghy's Wild Dark Shore was out in paperback I decided to treat myself
Look what I found in my local little free library! Not only a book I've wanted to read for ages but also this Pudsey headband for Children in Need. I was actually on my way to the shop to get my daughter one for tomorrow. Thank you to the beautiful person who donated it.

Yeah I have heard quite a few mixed reviews of Flashlight. It wasn't one I had the chance to read.
An older man reads to a child in a library.
#WorldKindnessDay is a chance to focus on those empathetic acts that can lead to a more compassionate society.
By bringing people with shared values together regardless of their differences, public #Libraries act as spaces where kindness can flourish.
My pick would have been The Land in Winter by Andrew Miller. That was such a beautiful book.
I'm not going to lie, Flesh was one of my least favouite books of the year. Although, it also doesn't surprise me that it went on to win the Booker Prize. If I hate a book it usually ends up on the Booker Prize list somewhereπ€£What are everyone's thoughts on the winner? #BookerPrize #Booksky
I have a similar feeling anout Norwegian fiction but I do quite fancy this one.
I don't want to be one of those annoying Strictly people but Strictly Come Dancing is back tonight!!! #strictlycomedancing
At a time when politics feels bleak and frustrating, I wrote a book on empathy and politics to inject much needed hope into the conversation and offer some ideas for change.
Out soon with @yalebooks.bsky.social @yalepress.bsky.social and available for preorder now π

Yes @zackpolanski.bsky.social keeps telling it like it is
Sat down last night to watch some mindless TV & was looking forward to the new Gogglebox. But what the hell is with all the posh people? The 2 Glasgow fellas aside the new additions are awful. Come on Channel 4, it's bad enough this country is over represented on TV by the elite&privileged few.
I'm blown away by it, more so because I don't even like flying π
Katabasis by RF Kuang review β a descent into the hellscape of academia
My current read is the fantastic, Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead. It's epic in scale and the kind of book I want to rush back home to read.
What was the last book that did this to you?

I still have this one to read. It's been on my bookshelves for ages!
A new favourite of mine is this book, The Treasures by Harriet Evans. One for lovers of the big family saga. Full review below:

My boyfriend has this and keep meaning to steal it off him.
Father's Day cupcakes. I'd love to say I made them...but that would just be a lie. π€£
As usual I've been juggling reading multiple books this week but since it's half term I've not actually finished anything Saraswati by Gurnaik Johal is one I'm making great progress with.

The 2nd was the debut novel The Original Daughter by Jemimah Wei, a new & distinctive voice in contemporary literature

This was 1 of 2 reviews that went up this week, The Spirit of the Rainforest by Dr Rose Vasquez Espinoza. It reminded me all over again why the Amazon needs protecting at all costs #AmazonRainforest #booksky #nonfiction
May was a huge reading month, partly helped by having a week off & partly because I started quite a few of these last month.
My favourites would have to be The Book of Disappearance and I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman.

We read this last year in my local bookclub & it was loved all round.
They do lovely coffee.
I'm starting the weekend with 2 new books, The Original Daughter by Jemimah Wei and I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman, my pick for my local bookclub. Let me know what you're all reading. #lovebooks #booksky #newreads
