Opera and ballet have already learned that they need to adapt.
It's the arts that think they're too new to fail that are the most at risk.

By the way, if anyone wants to insist that opera and ballet are dying arts, the reason I say no isn't the financial chart. As industries, both adapt. Large companies are finding other ways to get audiences beyond their main theater. I'm far more concerned about modern theater and movies.
They donβt want you to remember nightmares from 6yrs ago&1.2M deathsβ& they certainly don't want you to pay mind to the ongoing harm repeated SARS2 infections continue to cause your community, your loved ones, yourself; your complacencyβyour maskless faceβis advantageous to the fascist project.

He truly thinks his work now is better than his earlier work. He truly thinks that making more money and being more famous means you're a better artist than someone who chose a different path.
The funniest thing about the Timothee C discussions are the people who want to say we have no idea if that's truly what he meant. Yes, we do. Anyone who acts knows someone who acts/thinks just like him when it comes to their careers.
He isn't that smart and he meant exactly what he said.
This didn't happen. The perception that it did is largely based on fictional shows that were about rich people. Much more common was a household where one person (theoretically Dad in a het household) was the higher earner and paid the housing costs and the other paid utilities & food
I finally completed the Kanto region pokedex in pokemon go! (I just started playing it at the start of the year after taking a looooooong break)
The anniversary events really helped me get there.
This International Women's Day, please remember that trans women are women. Full stop. No qualifiers.
Day Two of older white people telling me that I should vote for the incumbents in the upcoming local election.
Day two of them also standing right up against my screen to do it.
(I want to make a sign that says I am voting, I've already picked my candidates, get off my porch)
The last one asked if I was going to would put up a sign for our incumbent mayor (who spoke up to defend a MAGA city council member who was at Jan 6th rallies and has done things like remove the steam of public comment from council meetings).
I'm not sure why the people stumping for local candidates feel like they need to be three inches from my screen.
We've got a nice big porch and they can step back just a little.
We have a two story house (which I mention), the houses on either side are not.
I'm not mad. I'm just tired. C'mon.
I'm not sure what the point of putting my house photo and delivery notes in English and Spanish, if delivery drivers don't use them.
My pizza was delivered to the neighbor's house.
I don't think that's possible either. I'm hoping it's an anniversary panel.
The only way I'd consider it is if Whedon hadn't involved at all. I honestly haven't been able to rewatch it. (Especially since the know I get the lazier his world building gets. China was the dominant economy/culture as Earth expanded, but the main and secondary and extras are mostly white?)
It's wild to see how short of a memory Browncoats have with a rumor of Firefly being resurrected. Between Adam Baldwin being a far right bigot, Joss Whedon's long and horrible history with women... Not to mention what he's originally planned for Inara of the show has continued...
Hard pass.
But we did discover that he liked my fake teriyaki (R can't have soy or wheat, so I use coconut aminos, sesame oil and a dash of balsamic vinegar to replicate the general flavor profile. Coconut aminos are sweeter than soy sauce, and the balsamic gives it a bit of bite and depth.)
Boy, this aged well
Forgot to buy orange chicken from tj's this week, so we ordered some from a local place.
Eh. If it happens again, I'm picking a different place. (So far, D didn't like Panda Express. He wasn't a fan of this one, and I thought it was kind of bland)
βMany of their commanders are especially delighted with how graphic this battle will be zeroing in on how bloody all of this must become in order to fulfill and be in 100% accordance with fundamentalist Christian end of the world eschatology.β
Yes, I care about more than hockey. I am deeply distressed by what's going on with Iran, as the last thing the world needs is an evangelical crusade to bring about the end times.
But being mad at hockey vents the rage I feel about the people who got us to this moment. So I can fight another day.
Keep in mind, YouTube TV knows I want to watch the Dallas Stars when the Stars are on ESPN or TNT, it'll recommend or play those games outright.
It's just so weird. Disney+ uses recommended data. Why not ESPN?
The ESPN app on PS5 still crashes after ad breaks. And for some reason, despite having fave teams data, the app doesn't prioritize them. (right now it's recommending the Canucks broadcast over the Stars broadcast, so those are extra choices before I can get back to the game)
i completely agree. i've had lupus since i was young, & something that's been impressed to me, as so many have gotten sick around & thus confided in me these last years is: indeed, folks thoroughly underestimate what one must endure daily when life does not stop even as you're feeling worse n worse.
What happened in Kansas is *exactly* why you need to get rid of Newsom at the primary.
He will not protect trans people.
He will not protect homeless people.
He will not protect anyone. He considers outside of the cultural norm.
... that's Republican shit.
This is a type of ICE "ruse," and is a tactic the agency has deployed for decades.
In 2015, ICE went to my former client's house posing as cops and convinced his 16-year-old US citizen niece to call him home from work with a fake story (the "identity theft ruse" explained below), then arrested him.
Strangest thing I've cried over this last week. Listening to kusc and their Film Week, and they pulled out the Vitamin String Quartet cover of Golden so that they could play and honor the movie's (and EJAE's) accomplishments. π
What an impact K-pop Demon Hunters has had.
Who are you rooting for? Montreal Victoire: 29% New York Sirens: 33% I just hope both teams have fun: 38%
First PWHL game post Olympics and Iβm hearing there are over 10K people watching on YouTube so far, and the mods had to enable slow mode because there are so many excited people posting. Also, the fans seem to be rooting for all the girls and the gays:
