And it is largely just tying up loose ends of work previously done / written / researched. It feels both like coming up for oxygen and diving under water for a brief glimpse of the past and potential futures.
Doing 'deep' work on maternity leave is a peculiar vision of a peculiar life. It takes so much organisation (childcare), carving out of moments, and battling with the foggy layers of sleep deprivation. Is this how working will be in the next phase? Who knows.
Amid everything else, a brief note to announce the CFP for the 2026 Summer Workshop in the Economic History and Historical Political Economy of Eurasia.
If you are an economist, historian, or political scientist working on Imperial Russia or the USSR, please consider applying.

Attempting to strip someone of citizenship is always a transparent and hopeless effort to avoid responsibility for the underlying problem you claim to object to. Their citizenship is *why* they can be held accountable for the actions you object to.

Itβs like they make (some?) postnatal wards deliberately shit and bleak but no one lets it slip til you're there. Glad you managed to make it home (from what I described as an airless prison) and congrats!

Last year, he and his family raised over Β£2700, which helped to pay for a complete overhaul of @amenduk.bsky.social website. Every card bought this year will fund ongoing maintenance and improvements to these vital resources for future adrenocortical cancer patients and their loved ones.
If anyone is looking for Christmas cards, my partner has made some based on his sister, Sally's, art designs to raise money for the Adrenal Cortical Cancer Support charity (@amenduk.bsky.social). All proceeds go to the charity.

For personal reasons (π£), Iβve not been following recent Moldovan politics enough to comment more than yey PAS / Maia. But, I can comment just how much more coverage these elections and Moldova as a result are getting. Moldovaβs visibility right now (and the reasons) is something worth observing.
Moldova has voted: PAS wins with 50.15%, beating the polls despite Russian interference.
The people chose a pro-EU, reform path. Meanwhile, the pro-Russian Patriotic Bloc (24%) calls for protests. PAS must now deliver reforms & lead Moldova toward EU accession.

#Moldova With 55 seats in Parliament, pro-EU party PAS secures absolute majority.
Patriotic Bloc leader Igor Dodon calls for a peaceful protest at 12.00 and alleges irregularities in the voting process. He has yet to recognize the results.
