Honestly this is why I always say to please tell me when I am making an ass out of myself. I try and I don't ever want to become one of those people but I also feel like I'm dumb as shit sometimes and, like... I don't want it to happen at all, much less on accident or without me knowing.

Fun fact about me: I am a wimp when it comes to spicy stuff unless its, like, hot tamales or other cinnamon/ spicy candies. Everything else is just tastebud murder for a week after.

For the most basic of cases: in addition to the usual Mistburns, the caster's entire body becomes somewhat magickally unstable. Their skin becomes dry and feverish, and may look to be slightly sunburned if such a thing is easily visible, with a similar kind of pain.

When a Burncasting attempt results in Mistbreak, the failure is very obvious. The symptoms are immediate, and even in a relatively minor case, they strike hard.

Usually in places such as the hands, arms, and torso. Further Burncasting of any kind becomes more difficult the more Mistburned you are, but unless the Mistburn itself kills them (these are healing resistant, severe injuries), they won't die of undetected Mistbreak later on.

And as they are burning, they must make sure the Mists they channel do not collide with the connection between their body and their soul.

If they successfully avoid such a collision and manage to cast the spell despite the pain, then they only deal with localized Mistburns...

In order to Burncast properly, a Mistbinder must not only be able to use their determination to stretch the same metaphysical muscles that have already been exhausted, but they must also endure through the pain of their flesh literally burning into Mists as they do so.

Oh I am getting sick, that's why I keep getting migraines. Yippee. :)

Burncasting is named for the inevitable consequence its use has on the caster: Mistburn, a burn-like injury caused by cells of the person's body converting into Mists. This injury cannot be healed fully by magick or traditional medicine, as the cells in the tissues surrounding the affected area...
