My mom had never seen Jaws so we watched it with her on Christmas day. Then last night it turns out my partner's mother hasn't seen it either so we watched it again. Christmas 2025 is WATCH JAWS WITH YOUR MUM CHRISTMAS. it's on iPlayer! Go do it! #watchJAWSwithyourmum25
stop blowing smoke up my ass and answer my question
who is this for, who needs Gemini to tell them that they're smart?
@ifbookspod.bsky.social have you got any Cal Newport books on the shortlist?
my pal told me about her friend from an Indian family who was marrying a Black guy. Her grandma disapproved and said she wouldn't come to the wedding until the night before when she said she'd changed her mind. At the wedding Grandma arrived all dressed up, and then died within an hour π¬
ahhhh Gangsters by The Specials is on the radio and I am having some very happy memories of singing it in the scaffold at @claptoncfc.co.uk β₯οΈπ€β₯οΈ
a clothed ass is still an ass, and as such very rude.
I'm in Leeds for in person workshops yesterday and today and was complaining to my partner about what a long day it was, getting up at 6, train back, home after 7.
I then remembered this is just....life? for loads of people! It sucks and I'm very grateful that mine is different.
thank you, the company 'smol' for including this warning on my washing up liquid carton
I imagine they're categorised as service emails but it's not a service, it's for their benefit not mine. If I'm unhappy with a product I'll get in touch with them, not wait for a simpering plea to arrive in my inbox.
right, can anyone who knows a bit about UK data protection tell me why it's ok for literally ever company I have bought something from now to email me saying 'ooh, tell us how we did please!"
What part of buying a product means I've implicitly opted into those emails? I HATE it.
sick of seeing this LIE every damn day
I'm quite into the idea of not being able to stream on demand as much! more serendipitous music!
my replacement for Spotify is just to listen to @wfmu.bsky.social all the time. It's going great!
I cancelled my Spotify subscription and this popped up on the confirmation screen and made me even more glad I cancelled it.
I cried at least five times reading this book. It is like it was written for me. Yeah it's about weightlifting but it's also about learning to take care of yourself and to trust yourself. I love it.

lil live bug in Slack, you love to see it
assuming you were on an NHS waiting list when you left?
The flip side of this is the male author who was asked about his writing routine, and who talked about how much he loved the feeling that he could close his door and then βthe day is completely yoursβ to focus on writing. He had, at the time, two young childrenβ¦ and, of course, a wife
Yeah I woke up a bit too early for the gym and just took a look and now my day is off to a great start π₯°
its just over nine months since i last drank alcohol. nine months! as if my sober self has been gestated, and now born
Zohran, the Sickos Guy, and Tim Onion.
One last time: Every time I post it he goes up five more points.
screenshot of website errors saying Error: 500: undefined|undefined. Basically the computer is having a bad time.
is that good???
I think for a bit I have been confusing 'being pragmatic' with 'writing pretty suboptimal code so work is finished quicker'
because I am a people pleaser and have a misconception that people (but especially non technical people) are more pleased by stuff being finished quickly than by anything else
every time i go to the US from UK i adore those first 2/3 days when I'm out of the house at 6am like 'wow maybe i have figured it out and i'm a morning person now'
had all sorts of big plans for what I was going to do in the week off before I start my new job (build a server less twitter clone and all ci/cd piplines for it) but in the end I've just been rereading The Pragmatic Programmer for the first time since 2018 and what a bloody great book
Screenshot of text from delivery app saying "you'll be glad to know your driver is using an electric vehicle"
don't tell me what I'll be glad about thanks
it has made a massive difference to how i eat, which isn't wholly positive but is in some ways. meds totally changed my life tbh, mostly good but some things are harder
I keep thinking "wow it's great I fixed my relationship with food, now I eat what I want and it's good satisfying stuff" but what actually happened was:
my ADHD got diagnosed, I eat for dopamine much less, plus I now take amphetamines every day which cut my appetite in half.
