Happy to receive a SSHRC IDG supporting a new project with my colleague Sandra Bucerius. It's (tentatively) about how current political trends complicate traditional understandings of the left and right. The project centres on German populism and involves interviews with AfD and BSW supporters.

maybe I’m misunderstanding - are you arguing that this data shows how Trump dramatically strengthened Canada’s right-wing movement?
I understand your frustration for sure. My perspective is maybe more optimistic about certain reforms/small changes. Anyhow, even though we might differ on this, I really enjoy your work.
Who is arguing that voting solves everything? And what am I in denial of? I think its important to help maintain the already minimal but urgently-needed supports we have for street-involved people. Budget reductions are often fatal.
I think voting to block parties that slash social services is pretty important.
I recently wrote about how extremism studies increasingly eclipses social science, as writers favour flashy concepts divorced from sociological traditions — like 'salad bar,' 'lawful,' and 'anti-government' extremism. This article does something similar, using simple concepts to assert broad claims.
