Cities in Vermont and Maine are experiencing some of the same tactics that ICE has been using across Minnesota since December, and facing lots of resistance.

Laura and Ike's wedding announcement photos: A bearded man in glasses and a woman with a blonde bob haircut stand in front of some picturesque rocks in Franklin Park, Boston, on a lovely fall day. They are looking at each other and smiling. Laura is wearing a knee-length white dress and a blue denim jacket; Ike is wearing a blue collared shirt and a navy blue cardigan with jeans. Both outfits are nicer than the ones we actually wore to get married.
5 years ago today, @ikegraine.bsky.social and I drove to City Hall during a global pandemic and got married in matching N-95 masks. It was a truly wild way to elope, but every day since then I have been so happy I married my best friend. π
I don't get paid to promote them, I just find their product incredibly useful and highly satisfying. I took a solo vacation last year and brought it with me. We all need something to look forward to and for me it's delicious cold brew, OK??
It's the first 70 degree day of the year which means the time of iced coffee is nigh. (Unlike many New Englanders, I don't drink it during the colder months!) Thus it is time for my annual plug for the Rumble Jar, a handy cold brew filter that fits inside a wide-mouthed mason jar. therumblejar.com

A handicap blue and white painted sign on the asphalt of a parking space. The symbols are meant to be a pregnant women and a baby stroller, but it doesn't look like that. It looks like pac man being killed with scissors next to a dancer

Six people legally living in the US and legally traveling for work were disappeared by the US government and the only reason we knew about it was because one woman was family friends with a county commissioner and her cell phone pinged to two detention centers.
This woman, US citizen living in Skokie, was detained at Ohare yesterday, taken to Broadview, then transferred to a detention facility in Wisconsin, now released. We know all this not because of DHS, who repeatedly denied that they even had her, but because her phone was pinging in those locations.
Ripley from the Alien franchise has always been my favorite horror/basketball hero.
Emmanuel Damas, a Boston resident and asylum seeker from Haiti who entered the United States legally, was killed by ICE. He leaves behind two sons.
ICE DOES NOT LOVE JUSTICE, BUT THEY LOVE MASSACHUSETTS COURTS. POLICE In 2025, federal immigration agents visited our courts over and over, resulting in over 250 kidnappings. That's almost 20% of all ICE detentions reported in the state, and probably an undercount.
WHY COURTHOUSES? ICE loves our courts because they make it easy for ICE to kidnap our neighbors. ICE isn't forbidden from our courts like they are in other states, and the only thing our courts require before they hand someone over to ICE in handcuffs is an "immigration detainer"β a document ICE writes for itself. This can happen before the person is ever convicted of a crime, or even after the charges are dismissed.
WHAT A COURT ABDUCTION LOOKS LIKE: ICE learns someone they've targeted for deportation is going to be at a courthouse, as a defendant, witness, or family member ICE comes to the courthouse and watches for their target, intimidating vulnerable people seeking justice Their target, one of our neighbors, is kidnapped in the lobby or from the street outside or, if they were in state custody but should be released by the Court, gets handed to ICE directly by court officers.
This is a great overview from LUCE about how ICE is targeting immigrants in Massachusetts courtrooms. I have seen this firsthand and it's critical that we stop it.

When someone says βScientists do not want you to knowβ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They canβt shut up about what they found out and want you to know.
DHS repeatedly said that an aggressive apartment raid in Chicago last fall was prompted by intel on a gang takeover.
Documents show the real story behind the raid was to target alleged squatters β with the landlord's blessing.
There's been a lot of debate within the Democratic establishment about what rhetoric to use via ICE.
Well, an incumbent doesn't lose by 48 percentage points very oftenβand her vote on collaborating with ICE was the defining issue here.

Our trans friends and family don't deserve this discriminatory subjugation and neither does anyone else (but the GOP will definitely do it to whoever they feel like punishing, if they're not stopped).
this one fucked me up so much. guy turns his life around after a drug conviction, becomes a happy, beloved, pet rescuing houseboat dad who undersells his mechanic services so poor folks can afford them. ICE grabs him one day out of the hospital for heart problems which then kill him. horrifying

There was a very persistent lie that we told ourselves that Republicans weren't sincere in their faith, that they were just manipulating evangelicals for votes.
But no, Mike Johnson genuinely wants all the Jews to return to Jerusalem to be murdered so that Abaddon can rise from his pit of locusts.
