I listen to you to 're-normalise' :) I have been on the left on most issues, for most of my life, but in recent times I have been lured in by some aspects of the right. But then I go out and all seems well, happy and good in the world --- online confirmation bias driven estrangement effect!
I was always impressed by the visual quality of this film. A true 50s zeitgeist definer. I also thought it was super eerie as a kid. It also has a revolutionary electronic music soundtrack ... for the time.
They are also making up to 80% of worlds supply of solar panels. I have a couple and they are very good, even in the UK they kick out a useful amount of power.

It's a bit disappointing. The usual identity errors, autism is considerably more common in white ppl. The doll looks too NT, autistic ppl often have unusual appearance characteristics including large eyes and a serious, precocious, countenance. Autistic's also often have wide short faces.
What's with all that hideous gold embellishment? The Whitehouse used to present an almost incongruous impression of tasteful modesty - certainly compared to British and other European buildings of high state. Trump's making it look like a Sultans palace --- in Vegas.
As AI becomes ever more prevalent what do we think the human counter position in arts and culture will be? A return to metaphysics, the cultivation of imperfection or the illogical, hyper realism and the celebration of the super banal, a new romanticism ... ?
I'd like to see this. I remember what I would refer to as "subtopia phase 2" under construction in my home location. The era of yellow brick, wood clad, green tiled Wimpy Box homes and Swedish style bungalows. Some of the best examples of this distinct 1960s style are now being G2 listed.

My mum was from Yorkshire and I can still remember when it was common to hear hairy handed fishermen call one another 'love' in Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby pubs :) Much less common now though. Most guys call one another 'bro' or 'pal'.
I think banning SM for under 15s is a good move. Personally, I believe SM account registration should require submission of gov ID and an official passport photo as a locked profile pic. This would help to make SM much more accountable with less trolling and bullying.
I sat on a jury about 20 yrs ago - It certainly reinforced my faith in the UK legal system. We all came to same conclusion as the Judge and legals and found the defendant not guilty, mainly due to absurd contradictions from witnesses.
I've never been able to understand quite how EM got so wealthy? He doesn't have any credible engineering, tech knowledge from what I have seen and he only appears to be boarder-line clued up on science?

I had a comfortable middle class upbringing and was just starting secondary school in 75. Summer of 76 to the Isley Bros, Steely Dan and Hissing of Summer lawns, leaving school to a sound track of Randy Crawford, Street Life. The 70s were definitely happier than now, more pro social, less complex.

I've owned the top two for about 45 years! Floyd's 'More' is ONE of my fav Floyd LPs. Oldfield's Hergest Ridge was his last angst ridden work and I still find it too emotional in an unsettling or eerie way.
One thing I always like about life in the north is the use of genuine (non ironic) terms of endearment. It's very common to use 'love' and 'mate' in Manchester and just to the south east of where I live, both men and women call one another 'duck' :) When irked we tend not to use these terms though.
I remember all of these too, going off on a slight tangent, I think the first openly gay person that made an impression on me was the genius Derek Jarman, who was a significant source of inspiration in my 20s.
